I never got the chance to try the 2011 version, but this one was everything
I hoped it'd be. I think DJ hit the nail on the head when he said it
sounded like Rubaeus on steroids, because that is my exact thought. Awesome
stuff.
Proper review, sir.
Cheers!
Hey Johnny. Great review. I actually absolutely love this beer. I had the
2011 one with my gf and was like holy shit this is straight raspberry
juice. Considering it had been 4-years since they brewed it again, they did
a killer job with the 2015 version. It really has that perfect balance of
tart/sweet and never gets cloying. Like you said, perhaps the most
impressive thing is the hidden ABV. Although it is not overly complex and
not everyone's favorite style, it is actually one of the best from the
Backstage series in a while. Most of the series has gone downhill IMO. Good
to see them bring back a classic. Basically an Imperial version of Rubaues,
which I also enjoy in the Summer. Cheers man.
+WhatCheersBeerReview Oh nice! I completely missed out on the 2011 version, but always wanted to try it so I was excited they rebrewed it. (well and CBS too haha) Yeah, I agree that it's very balanced and never gets overly sweet or tastes artificial. I also agree that the Backstage Series has been lackluster for quite awhile, but this was damn good! Thanks Nick! Cheers!
+droach75 No worries man, hope you enjoy it! Cheers!
Mort Subite Framboise (Raspberry) - DM's Montreal Beer Reviews [Ep.9 {6}]
I encourage everyone to try some fruit lambics! I can only get a couple varieties here in Montreal, so I'd decided to finally review them. Mort Subite Framboise is a ...
There is an original version but only difference they added elderberry
juice & sweetner. Just taste basiclly like raspberry juice/jam but this
would be the better version cus the original the sweetner in it add's a BAD
taste. Lambic's r good thought, cheer's.
