I've made this twice and both times it scorched to the bottom. 1st time
with a stainless pot 2nd with a porcelain coated cast iron pot. Are you
supposed to stir this? It didn't say in the video did it? I'm using my
tiniest burner on its lowest simmer setting.
+whopua No problem, happy to pass a tip along. It works pretty well for slow cooking beans, stews, etc. I recommend heating the pot on the stove first, as the pot itself can take a little while to heat up, especially the ceramic ones.
+GoldPhoenix99 that is fantastic advice, thank you. I'm a novice to be sure. I wanted to try another thing and double up the grates to widen the distance between the flame and the pot. I'll try the oven thing for sure!
As a general rule, anything that's being cooked for longer than 10 minutes under an open flame should be stirred because it'll usually burn. If you don't want to stir it (and who does, lol) then you should buy an oven safe pot (ceramic, etc) and heat your oven to somewhere around 250 degrees, and just leave it in there for the allotted time. It'll simmer for the total amount of time, but not being over a direct flame, it won't need to be stirred because the bottom won't burn.
Don't use pils for god sakes ! You have to use a dark beer like Leffe or
Sint-Bernard. The ultimate beer for this is Westvleteren. The onions are
cut way too big and you used far too much pepper. On the other hand, glad

+ima trot I was just following the recipe. I'm sure the salt will get worked into the meat as it "sweats" out. Usually the outside rub and the inside moisture do a kind of swap and pull that good spice (salt in this case) into the meat.
