Very nicely done. You definitely picked the better day to chase as there
was a helicopter following on the Saturday trip. If interested, here's my
take on the weekend excursions: https://m.youtube.com/?#/watch?v=95cT2YygYBw
This is a fantastic video. You had photos and explained where you took the
shots. I wish more videos included information like that.I have stood next
to this machine in Roanoke a couple of times in years past since my
daughter and her family live in Lynchburg. It's hard to appreciate the
size of a steam locomotive unless you stand next to it. Cranks the size of
your thigh and the top of the drivers (plus ties and rail) over your head.
1218 was on the track right next to it. More big. Really big. And 611
will do over 100 mph with a train and weighs 250 tons. I am amazed that
all of these enormous cranks and valves work perfectly and the machine
stays on the track in one piece.Again, congratulations on this video. Do
more. Now on to 1218.
Very well done video sir. I sure wish we had operational steam engines up
here in Canada. It seems that CN and CP are allergic to steam engines. CP
once had Royal Hudson 2860 and 2816 in excursion service but they haven't
run in several years. Among others there are two 2-10-4 Class T1c Selkirk
Locomotives left, 5931 and 5935. The 5935 was the last ever steam
locomotive built in Canada. Built by the Montreal Locomotive Works it was
delivered to the CPR on March 12 1949. They were the largest and heaviest
steam engines in the British Commonwealth.
+Blake Trafford - Mile Post Productions I heard that one day they'll be doing a tour across the country... A photo run by in each lower state! That's the what I heard I don't know if its true.... But yeah find the 611 trip that comes Tue furthest north!
+Railfan Rowan It sucks but what can you do. Hopefully someday I'll make the journey to see 611 in action. Maybe someday in the future 1218 will be up and running.
This grocery store opened a little over 10 years ago according to the official commercial development plan of this railroad property; but the elevator looks older ...
