the british say the weren't invaded on their land since 1366 or something
but john paul jones did just like the Vikings did ! the british got us back
in the war of 1812 they burned the white house the capitol building to the
ground !
+Tom Lienert I count 1812 as a win for the US for two reasons. One, the stopping of US ships and the pressing of American sailors into the Royal Navy was stopped. Second, Britain intended to re-conquer the US and they failed to do so. IMO, the US getting a draw in the second war in less than forty years against the most powerful nation on the planet at the time also counts as a win.
+George LeBlanc The Battle of Hastings in 1066 marked the last successful invasion of England. The Vikings/Danes invaded about 200 years earlier and were ultimately defeated. Unsuccessful invasions such as that led by William Wallace late in the 13th century and raids such as the one by Jones don't count. And despite the Presidential Mansion being burned it was rebuilt as the White House and the US eventually won the War of 1812.
