I don't see how there is ANY way to choose your source of energy. Sure, you
could _request_ energy when a specific provider is powering the grid _more_
- but the baseload is nuclear and coal (and hydro where available), and
that's the power you will get. And electron doesn't know where its push
came from, or where its going. A bias voltage has no memory.

"Smart Grid technology will introduce reliability and efficiency to an
aging electric grid. According to a report, the growth of the Smart Grid
market is expected to reach $400 billion in 10 years. Transformers are
important in the deployment of Smart Grid technology and companies such as
Pacific Crest Transformers are working on the 'smart' system. Pacific Crest
has a whole lot of information on Smart Grid and transformers.

Actually, I use a Mac not a PC. The set up for my computer is completely
safe and microwaved free....and so are my other family members. It's easy
to do and highly recommended. All wireless settings on our personal
computers have been turned off including Bluetooth and Airport. We took the
time and a little bit more money to run ethernet cables throughout our
home. Our keyboards and mice are wired. We purchased an RF meter to find
and eliminate any sources of microwave radiation at home.
Imagine the additional layer of electromagnetic radiation in your home.
First, the Home Area Network (HAN) runs at 2.4 Ghz off the Smart Meter.
Second, the Smart Meter communicates to the utility at 900 Mhz. Third, each
appliance has a radio transmitter. If you have wifi, cordless phones, cell
phones, baby monitors, or anything else that is wireless your family will
be swimming in EMR. Are we sure that radio frequency microwave radiation is
safe? Shouldn't we err on the side of caution?
The only way to sell green tech to most people is by showing them how much
money they'll save. It's a shame, but most people aren't going to change
just because most scientists say the earth is going to go haywire. That's
just the way it is.
I like the concept, but shame on GE for placing absolutely NO EMPHASIS on
the environmental benefits of Smart Grid. All they talk about is monetary
savings. SHAME SHAME SHAME.
