Canvassing is the first indication of a quality suit. Cheap suits and in fact many designer suits selling for over $1,000 are fused, meaning they outer shell is actually glued to the lining. Fused suits do not drape well, nor do they conform to the shape of the wearer. They also can bubble after dry cleaning.

There is a comfortable middle ground thats the designers job. Because a designer created the suit for all the tailors to master just that basic style. Without a designer there would be no job for the tailors.
