i drove my e34, 5 series with summer tires (didn't have $$ for winters)
through a Canadian winter and didn't have a problem, even with un-plowed
roads. although it made stopping very interesting. i cut through corers and
was drifting every corner. i also never got stuck, but stopping was not
fun, no traction!
+Yamani Netsi no it was called i put majority of the money i had on motor upgrades, the exterior and racing calipers. i purchased new rims, but then customs screwed me (asked for an additional $450) so i didnt have enough money for new tiers. also that was my only car at the time so i made do with what i had, if you keep your distance, know your way around the car then your good. i had to use a bit of a snowbank once to stop me faster and avoid hitting a persons vehicle that slammed on the brakes for no reason on an empty road, other than that it was very nice driving. now i have an e46 330xi for the winter, with all seasons and its unstoppable compared to the e34.
This was plain stupid and I don't believe it. E34 with summer tires in the winter is like a cow on ice. I tried it once with all-seasons - it sucked. With winter tires it was pretty much unstoppable and I loved it in the winter.
+Quentin Freeman Ice is a problem for any car. th e60 is perfectly balanced at 50/50 so it would make no difference if it were fwd. The guy cant drive. I drove my e60 with all seasons this winter with AS and drove up steep hills with just as much snow. I put winter tyres on and did fine in deeper snow. No these aren't snow machines but they are better than that.
It's not the snow that's the problem, it's the ice, and RWD cars suck on ice, there's just not enough weight on the drive wheels to get good traction, that Toyota there would have faired much better, even without winter tires.
