I was at this show, but not to see Kiss. My first time seeing RUSH, I'd
first heard them on an underground Chicago radio station before the release
of the 1st album and was hooked. The crowd was small, as an unexpected
April ice storm raged outside. I stood so close to the band I could have
reached out and touched them, I was hearing Neil's drums acoustically, and
the guitar/bass through the amps because the mains were actually behind me.
I'd never seen drumming like Neil's performance, incredibly intense. Fly By
Night had recently been released, they sold copies from stacks on tables in
the school hallway. Not long after, I saw RUSH again at the Aragon Ballroom
opening for Aerosmith. I liked the Aerosmith of the 70's, but they were no
match for the musicianship of RUSH. I'm now 61 years old and this is an
indelible memory, thanks for the post.
I wasn't @ WF until 79.. heard about it though, freshman then were seniors when I got there.. was it T. Howard & Mo Tharp while you were there ? I saw Aerosmith bunch of times in the late 70's,they were always on multi band bills w/Santanna - Journey- Foreigner etc..they were usually "no match" for supporting acts that were lesser known & legends now
