ULTIMATE TEST DRIVE: Martin Brundle drives the F1 W06 Hybrid!
The full film as Martin Brundle takes the wheel of the latest F1 W06 Hybrid around a rather damp Silverstone. Check out what Martin thought of the latest ...
I know the aesthetics of an F1 car shouldn't be a consideration when
designing an F1 car, but I think the W06 is one of the most beautiful F1
cars ever built.
Beautiful work.
My question to Mercedes is when are you going to allow the engine to rev
beyond 12,000rpm? The limit is 15,000 and none of the engines I have seen
on the grid go over 12k. In fact even in this video Martin Brundle
mentioned hitting the limiter.
+DT Film Productions No, it means that we get maximum power from 10,500 because this is dictated by fuel flow rate, ie max fuel flow = max power. So revving higher generates more friction, and ultimately costs power. But you need a useable rev range too.
+DT Film Productions We don't need to. We get maximum fuel flow at 10.5 rpm so after that point, revving higher really just costs performance. Revving to 15k wouldn't make us faster.

congratulations lewis on your hair and taking a risk with it and not caring
of others opinions. For those who have confidence in life and a continuous
Flow forward with everything they want has no time for us mere mortals that
haven't changed our subconscious minds and maybe never will.
Why will nobody dare to take a F1 car at near race speed around there?
Maybe not through the ultra-fast stuff, but round the wiggly bits it'd be
fine. Safer than the Monaco tunnel. In the 1970s it was mental,
disappearing off into the woods in your petrol-bomb-on-wheels, but if I was
driving a 2011 car with a crash-tested safety cell, air ambulance flying
overhead, and if I was Michael Schumacher, one of the most talented race
drivers ever, I think I'd be pretty confident of not hurting myself.
Lap record is held by the sr8 which is what? A LM....zonda R has pushed it
limits on this track...whats a zonda r? Basically a LM....but a you guys
are saying a F1 cant handle or isnt safe? So its safe for a LM but not the
most technically advanced car? You put a quarter under the car the eagle
will scream lol....u have 335s blasting the track gt3s but a f1 can't?
Lmfao if you dont understand racing or basic knowledge of how to race
please stop watching videos like this and posting comments lol
How isnt it safe? Like have you guys ever drove or understand how to race?
You push the car to what the car can handle on THAT track. They just
wouldnt let him race n try for a lap record...funniest thing ive heard the
track isnt safe lmao...u have indy cars flying around city streets which go
from tar to concrete in breaking zones lol...u set the car up to what u
think it can handle around the track simply put...it cant handle the track
lmfao man you people sound so stupid lol
I can do it faster with the F2007 in GT5, seriously why so slow? even 24hr
cars go faster, not interesting to see one of the best category car going
slow in that magic track, I prefere to see M5s drifting, even 70s F1 cars
used to run here, so??? 70s F1 was dangerous, nobody has dead with the new
F1s since Senna, so whats the matter?
But it shouldn't count. As they it's not gonna be their 2013 car. So it
doesn't matter. As long as they are using the 2012 spec Pirellis and car he
should be allowed to blast it all the way around! - As he did with an older
car when Felipe Massa got injured (with a possibility for a comeback in
2009)
To the retard saying 'oh no one has died since senna. He should be going
faster' no one has raced on this version of the track since fangio and then
similar version when lauda was there. Apart froms the regs. It is too
dangerous to do a hotlap on a whim
Nick Heidfield holds the record for the Goodwood hill climb they do at the
Festival of Speed but they stopped F1 cars doing that at full speed too! I
admit that is a bit dangerous with only hay bales as protection along the
narrow road.
The track isn't the smoothest, its painted hence doesn't have sufficient
grip, the car isn't exactly set up too fly and he had to finish ahead right
at the end ... Why are half of you crying despite knowing that ??
Omg, that's almost a wet dream realized, ffs, give him a proper setup and
add 100 GoPros, how hard can it be!...Just make sure MS is told to estimate
his lap times at "just slower than 6:11:13.."
That doesn't matter, it's an F1 car from a current team with the same basic
layout. Driving it fast is testing it - they might put a new front wing on
for the new car to test (yeah, right).
Current and last years car, yeah. And now Mercedes is in trouble for
actually doing testing with the current one for Pirelli, so had they driven
fast here, I bet all hell had broken lose.
