What if Hitler never came to power? Would the world be a better place? The Alternate Historian breaks down the No Hitler trope. The Dreyfus Affair: ...
+rickardspaghetti I think you run into the same problems with the "No Hitler" trope. It all boils down to how important you think a single individual is to the course of history. Take Petrov for example. He is credited with avoiding war, but critics have pointed out that a lot of people might have made the same logical conclusion as he did (Only five missiles? Why aren't the capitalist pigs launching their entire arsenal?) and even if Petrov or someone had sent it up the chain of command, they could have realized it was a glitch as well. How a person views history determines how plausible they feel the absence of one person will change the broad aspects of said history.
So my two choices are:
* Hitler exists, and causes the death of 12 million out of pure prejudice,
along with the Second World War
* Hitler doesn't exist, so eugenics and racism continue to be prolific for
god knows how long, the Second World War still happens and we don't get
Hellsing
Yeah, I'm going back to 1913 and getting the drop-out a job in silent
movies. His ham will give him big bucks. Just to be sure, I'm going to
shoot the sociopathic Goering, get Goebbel's to star in Hitler's WWI
satire, introduce Himmler to H.G.Wells instead of the Thule Society and
punch Mengele in the face. Or maybe just cut the middle man and tell
Gavrilo he shouldn't have a sandwich today
The only problem with this is that Grandad was part of the Korean War
before he had kids, so if there's no Hitler I may not exist
+John Porteous Well those are just two of many possibilities. My video was more of warning for people who think they can change one thing and immediately create a better world, as if human history is that simple.
Hmm, I'd think South winning the Civil War or Nazis winning World War II
would have been the oldest of the tropes, but maybe I'm wrong. Then again,
alternate history has existed as far back as Livy, so Alexander living
longer maybe?Anyway, that was a very good point you made. The one I usual
bring up is the Chinese Exclusion Act. Completely horrible and utterly
racist, yet without it, though there'd be more immigration from Asia, you
could see Jim Crow-esque laws popping up on the West Coast. If that
happens then the Civil Rights Act cou,d potentially be weaker, if it passes
at all1 second ago•
+Sam McDonald Those two wars are certainly the most popular eras to set alternate history, but I'm trying to be more narrow in my tropes. Mostly because there are still a lot of good WWII alternate histories out there and I don't want to discourage them. That being said, things like "No Hitler" or the dreaded aquatic mammal should be used sparingly if at all.
+andreas-daniel Martonosy If you are responding to my thread on the AltHistory wiki, please keep all responses to it on that site and not here. Its kind of silly that I have to look on YouTube to read responses to a question I asked on the AltHistory Wiki. Thanks.
Just saw this comment, sorry for taking so long to get it to you. Matt's desk is decorated with gifts from some previous episodes (Help, My Son My Son, etc).
Good show! My wife liked your costumes. What did Tona make that glove out
of? Anywho, my wife is banned from watching In The Mouth of Madness. It
freaks her out too badly, and some of us have to work tomorrow!
There is no such movie called "Pet Cemetery." Even if there was, the movie we reviewed was not named "Pet Cemetery." If we had spelled it as "Pet Cemetery" we would have spelled it wrong. And then we would look just as stupid as you BeAnBeAn22. And by the way "fucktard" is not a real word. Do your research before you ever leave another comment here ever again. And grow up. Don't you know what the suffix -tard represents? Never use that term again. Now apologize.
//www.imdb.com/title/tt0098084///en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pet_SemataryThe misspelling is intentional. I don't recall if they ever go into during the movie, but in the book, they make a point about how the cemetery was put together by kids and the sign they made had the word cemetery spelled incorrectly.
NAZI UFO HITLER TRUTH!
Watch the skies for the Alien Invasion on the shores of our precious blue planet! Hogan's Heroes is an American television sitcom that ran for 168 episodes from ...
My Grandfather was an engineer in the Nazi government, He was also
Jewish.....believe it or not... the wealthy Jews (the Zionist) were
somewhat in league with the regime because of resource connections in South
Afrika and South Amerika.......He fled Germany to Amerika in 1944 and went
to work for General Dynamics...I believe the Germans had unbelievable
technologies that are still classified as top secret..We are not alone !!
@DreamHomeHeartache - Very interesting. I am aware that Hitler had many
plans in mind for constructing tremendous monuments to his "empire", huge
buildings and stadiums of never before seen stature. Yes, many nations have
long had many technologies that are still kept from the people, if only
there wasn't so much greed in the world, we would be much more advanced, or
extinct.
Hahah, I love you man! Thanks for this video! awesome parody! Honestly, I
never heard bigger rubbish than the idea of Iron Sky. Also many thanks for
the inform in discription, people must know all who stand behind this bosh.
Here's the funny thing. According to her, you'd be in the wrong. Yet she
bans any and all discussion - presumably for fear of people being critical
of her - and you welcome it with open arms. But yeah, *she's* the one who's
clearly right.
+segamai Jesus! It's the worst thing ever! My feed gets flooded periodically with, "Let this white atheist man tell you why women have small brains and delicate bird wrists," which is the exact opposite of every video on feminism I've ever watched. Well, the intent is the exact opposite at least. It's like YouTube is the drunkest most unaware guy at the party, who also wants to be liked the most.
+hornsandthehawk I think so, yeah. That's what brought me here too. And in turn I came from the MarySue because they were complaining about Youtube's terrible recommendation algorithm. Every time I watch a video with feminist themes the sidebar is running over with these terrible neckbeard rants lol
I could only make it 3:12 into the video before the (il)logical reasoning
got to me.
- Speculates that the Dino game was turned into a Star Fox game for name
recognition, but then points out there are only 5 Star Fox games. That
should indicate there isn't a lot of name recognition there. Now, this is
not to say he's wrong, but -- again -- he's speculating in the first place.
He seems to be trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill.
- Suggests he could not escape a giant ape if he were kidnapped. That
misses the point, which is that the damsel is almost ALWAYS a female.
Jumpman (Donkey Kong) was being used as an example of a pattern. Saying
this does nothing to address that issue.
You know, instead of spending all your energy being defensive about the
games you love, perhaps you could take a step back for a moment and admit
that games are reflective of our culture. And our culture doesn't exactly
treat women with dignity or respect. What's so upsetting to women gamers is
that for men, these games get to be a fantasy "escape" where they get to be
the hero and save the girl. For women, these games are anything but
fantasy, they're a bleak reminder of our worth in the world and the way our
bodies are traded like commodity and currency. Are female gamers not
entitled to want an "escape" the same as male gamers? The only one trying
to take away your games is your mom.
+Natalie Rose Apar The problem with this is that, as the video points out, these games are simplistic ones, which utilize simplistic plots like rescue ones. Where plots are simple, both male and female characters are reduced to caricatures. In such games, male characters are often subjected to violence for unexplained and unexplored reasons. Does that reinforce a culture of violence against men? Of course not; it's just lazy writing. You are, of course, completely ignoring much lauded and beloved games with incredibly strong, central female characters, like Kreia from KOTOR II, Rose from Legend of Dragoon, Morrigan from Dragon Age, and Midna from Twilight Princess. Kreia mentors the player while simultaneously manipulating everyone in the game in order to forward her own philosophical agenda, without playing on her looks to do so (she's an old, blind woman). She also saves the player character's life multiple times, sometimes without the player's knowledge. Rose (spoilers) sacrifices her own moral compass and engages in a centennial mass slaughter for 11,000 years in order to perpetually postpone the destruction of the world, becoming a silent, lonely, and reviled saviour. Morrigan knows much more about the world than the player, ends up being the only one who can save the player's life, and is one of the only people in the entire game with true agency, following her own hidden agenda throughout the quest. Midna saves Link multiple times, helps him with his quests, talks down to him in amusing ways, and in the end sacrifices her own happiness for what she knows is the greater good.If you're in the game for a good story with complex characters, then buy a game with a good story and complex characters. Don't complain that a game which has a bare-bones plot has undeveloped characters, because that's sort of a no-brainer. I've played both, as have many avid gamers, and when I think of what a woman is I think of the complex examples, not the caricatures which were essentially placeholders in a cookie-cutter plot. The same goes for men.
+Natalie Rose Apar You know, instead of spending all your energy ruining people's fun, perhaps you could take a step back for a moment and admit that most of the games cater to a male audience. They are imaginary characters, you shouldn't even give a shit about how they look like or what happens to them, they're just a bunch of pixels.Women get treated badly? What about men? Men get treated like shit aswell. Everyone gets treated like shit, this is the real world after all.If you were an actual gamer, you'd find games that'd appeal to you, female characters which you could relate to. Or you could just keep thoughtlessly listening and agreeing to Anita's retarded shit about games being sexist.

Greece and German WWII Reparations - English - Die Anstalt 31 March 2015
A viral video by a German satire show educates people about the true situation of the Greek reparations claim. Here with English subtitles, which are my own ...
Eher schwach von der Anstalt, sie hat immer Höhen und Tiefen. Deutschland
basically.. Greece are obliged to pay their debt.. which is completely
reasonable..
But germany being germany is allowed to weasel out of paying war
reparations and taking the part of the "big guy always following the law
and demanding only what's right", forgetting what they owe other nations...
sums things nicely..
But don't forget the ones doing it or the ones in power, not the common people. The truth is the majority of the Germans don't even know of the war crimes against Greece. In fact in schools when kids learn about WWII they nvr hear about it or if they do it is very little. I am German and I had no idea about it, now after watching this show it makes me ashamed that they used tricks like that. And I wish we would pay back the money.
almost forgot about that, and I have Y staring at me from the wall. X3She'd most likely whine about how you can fight against her, it being somehow patriarchal.
Not to mention in Pokemon X and Y you can change your character's appearance to make them look unique though I'm pretty sure Anita would find something to bitch about.
About the Adam and Eve thing...
In original jewish folkore Adam's first wife was Lilith, who was unique and
created at the same time than Adam with dirt, then since she was too unique
and was not submisive to Adam's will got banished from the garden, then God
then made Eve from Adam's rib so she could be subordinate.
Then with many translations and adaptations they changed the tale, so
there's only Eve, that's why in some parts of the bible, Eve was made out
of a rib and in another part she was made at the same time than Adam.
Anita's videos are the kind I don't want to be shown in schools. After all
it's just her opinions, and not very well founded ones at that. Like when
she brings up Minnie Mouse she ignores the fact that Minnie came along the
same time as Mickey so it's not that Minnie came along later. And with
Supergirl, sure you can make the being a female version thing but it looses
points when they can become characters of their own beyond just being the
female version of the male character. And let's not forget how she talked
about Batgirl and not bringing up the "Ms Male" thing, oh the irony. And
for the Femshep thing, while I haven't played the Mass Effect games I will
do what Anita doesn't do and take an educated guess. The nickname most
likely comes from the fact that the two Shepards don't have a first name as
fans would likely use that to talk about one or the other. Like in
Adventure Time they have a genderbent universe and the female version of
Finn is called Fionna, and if she had the same name I would bet that fans
would have called her FemFinn but that isn't the case.
+xXBlackDragoonXx She was definitely wrong in that "Shepard" isn't automatically used by fans in reference to the male version. She was dead-on about the advertising, though. Advertising for all the games used BroShep almost exclusively for everything, with very little exception.
+Bren Tenkage I figured as much, and still that isn't the kind of thing Anita thinks about since it needs common sense, you know what she lacks. Also kind of surprised she didn't bring up Pokemon at all in this. With the way she was going with it she could have easily gone into the fact that it wasn't until Crystal that you can be a female. Also something I noticed, she never considers how people of either genders play, like she ignores that guys might want to play as a girl or that girls might want to play as a guy... kind of a sexist view if you ask me.
(@ Anita)
I can name at least several characters that have blue in their hair and
outfit, but are still female let's see there's Samus with her blue zero
suit from Metroid; Princess Ruto, Navi and Fi from Legend of Zelda;
Rosalina from Super Mario Galaxy; Sally Acorn from the Sonic Archie comics
with her blue vest and boots; Maria Robotnik from Sonic Adventure 2;
Crystal/Kris from Pokemon Crystal version and finally Rainbow Dash from My
Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
Oh and i would recommend you watch the cartoon it's like a somewhat funnier version of tom and jerry it's funny but it's only physical comedy none of the birds actually speak in my opinion the cartoon personifies the direction most western animation is heading less continuous cartoons and more short skits and spoofs but if you liked tom and jerry growing up I would really recommend you watch it
