+Alonso Mestanza Hi Alonso. I'm not sure I understand your question - could you please rephrase it? I'm more than happy to answer or give advice on any questions you have. Thanks!
+David Crandall Hi David! There's always things you can do to change your situation. That's the beauty of life - it's what you make of it. If you're looking to get out of debt I suggest getting rid of anything that no longer serves you or the life you're trying to create, sell what you can, and take a good look at your monthly expenses and see where your money is going. We have the power to change anything in our lives. It just requires unwavering motivation, courage, and great game plan. =)
Great ideas. I think that taking your savings to pay of your credit debt
would only work if you have someone who can back you up if an emergency
happens. For me, my parents and my boyfriend would be able to help me,
however, this is not the case for everyone. I work in the cosmetics and
skincare industry, and I have returned to my natural hair color in order to
have more money to pay towards my debt. I have lived my whole life as a
blonde and now I'm almost brunette. As a reward for paying of my debt when
I get there, I will promptly be returning to the hair salon! Lol
I've approached debt both ways. Putting aside money and having savings while paying off credit cards. And also taking my savings and paying off the debt fully and then rebuilding my savings. And I've found that the second solution is what propelled me and the stress and financial struggle in my life was gone afterwards. This video was just to share my experiences but of course everyone needs to evaluate what's feasible and decide what's best. I also had to give up a lot of luxuries including getting my hair done and clothes shopping. It was very tough during but once you're out of debt and have a better understanding of what you can afford then you can incorporate those things back in. It just might be to a lesser extent or in a different way. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and best of luck!
+Niki Cole Hi Niki! Thanks for sharing - several people have mentioned him now so I will definitely have to check him out!

+lazy gizmo I know this comment is 3 months old but I couldn't help myself. If you make your own purpose it is just a subjective purpose. When people are looking for purpose they are normally looking for Purpose (capital P, objective meaning and purpose). That can't be found unless there is a purpose giver. Otherwise it is just subjective. Like you they don't exist in nature. So the question that really matter is. Is there a purpose giver and if so what does he say?
@ Indian outlaw True to some extent, but true freedom of religion means accepting other's beliefs. I don't agree with all religion, but I respect individuals freedom to practice any belief they like as long as no one is hurt. Respect begets respect.
As long as you implement the financial plan. This dude knows his stuff. And nothing wrong with being an atheist, but having faith helps a lot more in times of struggle.

Cut up your credit cards? Only if you can't control yourself. Otherwise,
there is nothing wrong with using credit cards as long as you paid them off
every month.
+Nicole Do you consider utility bills debt? For a period of time, you owe money. In the accounting field that is known as a Payable. The utility considers it a Receivable.Dave is addressing people who have little or no self-control with credit cards. When I purchase gasoline for my car and use a credit card to pay for the purchase, I consider that "real" money. At least as real as fiat money can get. At the end of each billing cycle, my account is paid in full. I don't have to do a thing as I have electronic payment in full set up.
+jvolstad Not to mention 1%-5% cash back for simply spending on cards that offer it. Cash does not offer that return. However, like Ramsey said, "most" people can't handle them. They end up over spending and owing interest.
jvolstad- exactly. Unfortunately, there are MANY people who can't control themselves. They are the ones who are deep in debt, and they are the ones that Dave's message is targeted for. My dad is the same as you; he's in the 1-5, maybe 10% of people who do pay the credit card balance in full every single month without fail. But if Dave said, "Keep the card so long as you stay in control and pay it in full each month," too many people would count themselves in that category, incorrectly, and to their detriment. It's more responsible for him to say eliminate the credit cards because that is the right advice for 99.9% of his audience. Additionally, while credit cards used to have additional protections, the debit cards w/credit card logos now have the same level of protection. And they can be used anywhere a credit card can for reservations, as well.
+Nicole Here I don't have any debt. The fact that for a couple weeks for so there is a balance on my credit cards is not debt in the traditional way of thinking (paying interest). My credit cards are paid off in full every month. In fact I don't even have to write a check in which to pay the balance. The accounts are connected to my checking account. Card cards have some protections that debt cards do not have. Also, as someone who travels in my business, credit cards are invaluable when making plane reservations, renting a car or hotel rooms.Bottom line, if you are paying interest on credit cards you may have a problem.
your credit score is an "i love debt" number. credit cards are a very unwise way to spend or really barrow money. why pay interest when you dont have to-and can even get a discount for using cash?!
