It seems to me that the very early versions of this SPD vehicle color scheme may have had red fireballs instead of blue, but my memory ain't what it used to be and this was over 40 years ago. I do recall the reason for police switching to blue, it was actually for a calming effect versus red which tended to make people see red- it was not the color-blindness issue that is so commonly reported today. WAY COOL MoPar, by the way!

My first car (1977) was a 1970 Plymouth Belvedere and it was blue just like the Belvedere cigarette packs. It had a 318 and went like snot, but it was a rusted out piece of shit, wrote it off drunk less than 6 months after I got my license

I think vehicle-wise they used to be black and white up until 1970, '71 or so when they went to what is shown here.
