I remember making all these things. the Hollerin' promo. the Durham Bulls
and The sign off and sign on. Every time one of the repeaters changed or
something we had to redo them. I could usually just edit my voice over and
freeze a frame but sometimes we had to start from scratch. We had very few
special effects. Check out more WKFT stuff on Facebook under WKFT Alumni.
I used to work there with Jim in production. That was my first TV job. I
also knew Cindy at the top of this clip. My job was to cut promos and edit
movies...let's say I missed a couple of shots that should have been edited
out in a movie and moved on to other things....fun job, though! Hi Jim, if
you ever read this....
OH SNAP! The nostalgia is choking me! I remember during summer break as a
kid, I went through this weird phase of watching Sign-Offs and -Ons. The
hardest part wasn't staying up late or waking up early, it was trying
explain to my mom why I thought it was cool. Oh and TV-40 got me hooked on
Blinky Bill!
I loved this channel...and I remember being devastated when it went off of
the air for good. For those of us who didn't have cable in those days..it
was our clearest channel we could receive.Damn...I miss that MATLOCK.We
miss you WKFT 40. So long faithful friend.
WKFT will return to the air tomorrow morning with Central Carolina's best
variety of Entertainment and Information Programming. From the Staff and
Management of WKFT, A very pleasant good night... Have A Pleasant Evening...
This was an awesome time for me growing up as a kid in Fayetteville. This
was back in the day when you could just roll on to Ft. BRAGG with ID checks
for the most part. Back when the Fayetteville Generals were our team.
Write to WKFT 230 Donaldson Street Fayetteville, NC 28301. Now stay with
WKFT for Central Carolina's best variety of Entertainment and Information
programming. HAVE A GREAT DAY!
mMan this brings back ol' memories. WKFT-40 was the channel I watched for
Charlotte Hornets basketball and Baltimore Orioles baseball. Man I miss
those days.
I used to stay up late and watch them, too, and still think they're cool. I
never bothered to explain it to my parents because I didn't know how,
either. :)
