Hey how often do you fish this area? I live nearby in Dunbar (Roxalana apartments) and I recently started fishing for smallies on the Kanawha.

Thanks for the reply.  I hope it gets better soon.... I have been doing the majority of my fishing on some lakes in Jackson County.  I have better luck up there.

Sorry I am so late in replying. I used to fish the area 3 or 4 times a month when I lived on the river. The first couple years I fished it the fishing was great but after the water crisis the fishing really seemed to go bad. I used to catch the good smallmouth early in the morning and around docks.

did you have any trouble with current on this river? I ask because im planning to get out there soon and wanna take my kayak on the river.

I usually don't. I always check the usgs website to see what the current discharge is. If it is around average or below I can paddle against the current without a problem. //waterdata.usgs.gov/wv/nwis/uv?site_no=03198000
