This was bad. I spoke to NOAA at the West VA state fair on 8/11 and he said
it was bad all over the East coast and it probably won't happen again like
this for 20 years. Thank God. This was the only system they had on display
at their booth. Our local government building went down and the generator
didn't come up for 30 minutes. It controls dispatch o_O. My mother-n-law
lives in Charleston too and she said it was the worst she has seen there :O
God bless
hate to here that for you. I live in South Hills, we were blessed and only
lost water for 5-6 hours on Saturday and never lost power. We have a
deep-freezer in our garage and have been able to make ice for our friends
and family. Hope you get your power on soon!!
Keep hanging in there. Been right where you are before. Except we had a
generator for the freezer. Now we have a few generators and plenty of gas
stored up. If you store gas make sure you put the correct storing additives
in it.
Hang in there! Freezing water containers is something that I always
recommend. That can add days to freezed goods, if you don't keep opening
the freezer to check. VA still has a lot of folks out also... and more
storms coming
im definatly gladthisis behind us now ! but ill be better prepared in the
future ,im also looking into a generator and a natural gas conversion kit
to run it with ! thanks for stopping by and im glad your mom fared well !
I got my power last night at 8:00 pm but I stayed at my brothers and my
step sister because the have power and I live fort Wayne and there is 37
thousand people without power
I had what i needed for canned stuff bottled water, Ice while it lasted,
was rough being warm & quite but made it... where bouts in WV you at? im in
Charleston, WV here
hang in there,,, and little note from what i heard, dunbar's natural gas
lines ruptured so they was without gas for a while. not sure if it was ever
restored..
Winter storm causes widespread power outages. Here are some things we did to get through without electricity. I created this video with the YouTube Video ...
You guys survived it quite well. Well done in my book. At least you made
light of it kidding around, that was funny lol.
Ya kno, I believe BexarPrepper and PetPrepper, are sponsoring a contest
regarding living off grid during a power outage. The contest runs until
June, I think (?). You should submit your video in the contest. I'm sure
the prizes are probably very nice. It's worth a try, mayb you'll win.
That would be cool :-) Stay warm and take care my friends-Debbie
Thank you! We definitely saw some shortcomings, which was good to see during such a short emergency. Next time we hope to be more prepared. Thanks for the tip on the contest, I will check it out. :o)
sure will ive been thinking on some video ideas - but the best thing i
could of had was a generator of cousre ! they sell kits on the internet
that alow you to run your generator on the natural gas from your home -
they are very cost effective and gas service is the most unlikely to be
shut off in an event of emergancy ! if you type in generator on natural gas
you should be able to find video on the matter on youtube :) ill be
investing in this as soon asthe finances are avalible -
great video brother. I live in charleston and was on my boat when the storm
hit. It pretty much wiped our street out. We had 4 trees down on my street
along with a powerpole that went theough a ladies van and her home. Two
other homes where destroyed just on our street which is on the river. I
think the river had alot to do with the damage just by the way the storm
was rollin. Got power back on today around 2pm. Godbless and stay safe...
A really easy and traditional way of cooling down the house is to wet
towels and hang them in the doorways of every room. My husband and I had to
do that during our two day blackout last September here in San Diego. Stay
safe and have a wonderful 4th of July buddy. :)
stay safe jedi today of all days, alot of drunks is going to be out today
due to its the 4th. but i hope you stay cool due to the storms thats going
to be off and on. happy 4th and hope they get your power on soon.
It was a big eye opener for me ! I just bought a big generator and ill be
buying a kit to hook it up to natural gas from the house ! Ill be showing
it off I a video soon , thanks for stoping by my channel :)
I can relate...we went 5 days with hurricane Charley here in
Jacksonville...I lived in the Historic district with a lot of big old trees
that were down, which prolonged the outage.
wow - yes i know there were many who sufferd much worse than i - glad you
pulled threw ! i just bought a big portable generator this week and im
looking into a tri fuel system for it so i can hook it up to natural gas !
ill be doing a video update showing the new generator and some other
supplies - hope you are preparing for the next one as well !
I greatly enjoyed your power-outage series!! I live in a 110 story condo
high-rise, and I have checked on our elderly residents, during the past
several conditions we have had!!
