Man, that bass sounds so gnarly and ballsy. Vig's production certainly helped Nevermind become the success it was and Albini is a personal favorite "producer" (and musician), but these demos have a certain charm that I like a lot. The guitars/bass are THICK. Jack's done some good stuff and these sessions show the variables that go into a good studio recording. Same producer, same band (different drummer), three years apart. Bleach is great, but it was rushed and the band had shifty equipment. These recordings sound leagues better fidelity-wise. Bleach/Blew has a sludgy sound that works in the context, but Endino did a fantastic job on these demos.
