John,I always thought that those rockers (followers) or "culbuteurs" in french,were hardened from the factory...? See how you grind and polish them,will they last a good time or aren't they hardened after all from new....? Last week I saw a "rebuilt" 2.2T engine from Switserland,the dude siliconed the engine together and put so much silicone that he blocked the oil nozzles to lube the camshafts. Result:shafts and followers were gone after less then 300miles,what a pitty and a mess...

In a manufacturing sense, yes because you would have a dedicated machine 4 doing this op, however in the real world of rebuilding, we use a machine that is universal to do all types of rockers, etc. and these work very well after refinishing. Thanx for the question! JE...

How do you true the side of the grinding wheel or do you true it? Is that rocker arm fixture something you made or can you buy them for you valve grinder? Nice work by the way. I enjoy your videos.

There are from the air cooled type engine family, the 996/997/998 and Boxter engines all have HLA's because they are DOHC engines (4 cams total). Thanx for the question! JE...

The rockers are hardened to a dpeth of about 0.75mm (.030") which is way less then we grind them, we typically remove about .002"-.008" when refinsihing them. JE...

Can you mess around with the curvature to get more valve opening etc instead of putting a cam in? Or is it too tricky to get each one the same?

Theoretically, wouldn't you want to do them all consistently, i.e. taking off precisely the same amount from each one? Or doesn't that matter?

yea 520bhp :p lol well the engines dont fit "perfectly" in t1 t2 t3 but......you can make them fit without drasticly changin the car, like for my bug they do kits to fit subaru boxer engine, porsche flat engine and certain alfa engines :D
