They are saying...if only the French knew how to build cars like the Germans!
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-3aMp6MDswvw/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAcc/bt7xp7qlKqY/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Lorrinda Mills Actually, the replica is build in California. Probably would have been better of it came from Franc as we all know the build quality of American cars lol....! ;-)Absolutely stunning car btw. Safety would be/is the dealbreaker for me with classic cars though. And it feels wrong to just place them in your garage as a museum piece. It's like having a Picasso painting but not looking at it.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
For a speedster I'm thinking of a company called carrera coachwerk (Its actually spelt that way) or maybe a beck. Im also looking to get a 100 percent accurate car. However back to the ferrari issue. The 250 California design philosophy of a small barchetta like concept came before the mg and the triumph. Furthermore there is no mg B or mga. Its literally a 250 tdf without the roof. My favorite rendition of the car is the spider cometizionie that thing is the business!! its beautiful open topped and has dual ability  ferrari pedigree.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-0Ko9Uzdr-OE/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAHM/LFLR7Id56OA/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Adam OthmanYes you are right...thanks to Mr Hitler and Prof ferdinand Porsche.MG...lol...it def has a hint..triumph herald too.Why on earth the 250??? My favourite ferrari without a doubt is the Dino 246 GT..such an amazing timeless looking car.Tony Curtis..persuaders!Where will you look for a speedster?
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
i don't really see any mg or anything like that. Prior to mg producing its modern "Barchetta" styles of the late 50's ferrari had been doing since the late 40's, however to each is our own. Im looking for a speedster that has a separate frame, that way its a more suitable car. I read somewhere that the original 356's were beetles with a reinforced frame and better suspension
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-0Ko9Uzdr-OE/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAHM/LFLR7Id56OA/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Adam OthmanYes, the chassis is some 11" shorter. The ferrari 250 is a stunning classic but when i look at the lines i cant help seeing the Triumph / MG thing...sorry.The speedster...i must say is a total nostalgia trip...the drive is just fine without the mod cons...and still a total thrill. I added discs to the front, changed the dynamo charging system the interior ....the list is endless to the tune of just under £35K but to be honest..it is worth it and have had loads of offers with a good profit.I am glad you like my air cooled.Let me know if you get one...or if you need any advice.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
AH now i see where your dislike of the french motor industry comes from, thats a funny story but it proves that people always prefer the classics over modern cars. my favorite open topped car is the ferrari 250 california lab competizione spider. That placed first in class and fifth over all at le mans i think (i read that somewhere) and that was impressive as well as beautiful. However seeing the picture i can tell you the speedster you have is beautiful but how is it to drive? is yours on a vw chassis?
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-0Ko9Uzdr-OE/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAHM/LFLR7Id56OA/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Adam OthmanThats mine 4 u 2 clet me know when u get this msg as i don't like keeping pics on like this for obvious reasons. ;)
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-0Ko9Uzdr-OE/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAHM/LFLR7Id56OA/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Adam OthmanI picked it up in Pembrokeshire. It had been in california then south africa. She runs sweet and has been used approx 150 days in the year every year.It has been from UK to Italy every summer since 2007 and now stays in Italy.I only broke down once in bloody france...and the horrible french kept me there 2 days to replace burnt out points. One of my fondest memories (and there are many) is when i was sitting outside a bar and the 356 was parked on the narrow side street whilst out front there was a brand new f430 in red...i cant tell you how embarrassing it was...there was a crowd of people taking pictures of my red speedster and the red horse was seconded...i felt guilty...and as nice as the ferrari was...there was no compare with the design and the retro lines of my speedster...it still brings a smile to me now!
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
buddy the german cars of that era are none existent. and test buggatti was italian however he built his cars in france utilizing french people so its french and I am italian as well and i can tell you based on personal experience that yes ferrari cars are not daily drivers and they were never meant to be. when you drive a classic ferrari it is meant to be a sense of occasion and it is when you're running the car it runs dead cold and the driver has to work to get the oil and water temperatures up to a normal standard. When it comes to a porsche which i own (Not a replica speedster but i want one) they deliver a nice driving feeling yes. But no where near the lever of a ferrari not even in the same league! on top of that there is no sense of occasion when driving those cars. A ferrari is like putting on your best suit for a wedding while the porsche is the day to day suit you wear to your office. You get more use out of it but that feeling of being special and that you are the only one who has the wedding suit you can only get with said suit. And that goes for both classic and modern! on top of that the buggatti is still built in france designed by the germans which many german cars are designed by italians utilizing firms such as giugaro for instance so no the germans don't build the best if they have to go to the italians for the best design. BTW where did you get your speedster from? is it worth the money and can it be daily driven? reason is because i don't wanna risk daily driving a classic porsche
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-0Ko9Uzdr-OE/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAHM/LFLR7Id56OA/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Adam OthmanBugatti was Italian...just chose to build them in france...now the Germans have the brand and improved it.However, you have not mentioned the 2CV..one of the most reliable cars of our time. The french cars you mention have never stood the test of time unlike the German cars. Many German cars...notably Porsche wether from the 60's or built today are used as everyday cars unlike the french cars or the Italian Ferrari's...its all about reliability combined with performance and the Germans have always delivered.Being of Italian parents i have always been surrounded by friends that have owned Ferrari's but i have always had a romance with Porsche and have owned a few taken me to my latest faithful Speedster which i've owned since 2007.A friend the other week entered his 1980's french Renault Turbo II into a competition and was disqualified for leaking oil...another bad day for french cars!My every day run around has in fact a french badge on the bonnet..its a Peugeot RCZBut before i purchased i discovered it is Italian Designed by Zagato, BMW engine and built in Austria...wheres the french??? lol
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
Bugatti, delage, hispano suiza, delahye etc... need i go on? the french have an amazing automotive history that has been destroyed by wwii. a lot of the cars mentioned above are instantly million dollar machines. Plus the french produced the citroen id and ds which surpassed the boeing 747 as the greatest engineering marvel of the 19th century. Just note that I'm also a huge italian car fan my favorite brand has always been ferrari and i still respect the french auto industry
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-0Ko9Uzdr-OE/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAHM/LFLR7Id56OA/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Adam OthmanI doubt that very much...if it were the case the french cars would still be on the roads...as the German cars are...they have proved through the test of time where most french cars have been recycled into baked beans tins!
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
prior to ww2 they were building cars better than the germans and almost as good as the italians
