+Frederick Wiseˈpalədn/nounhistoricalany of the twelve peers of Charlemagnes court, of whom the count palatine was the chief.a knight renowned for heroism and chivalry.
I had to come back and make two more comments about "errors" in the program.
A) No gunfighter JAMS his gun down into the holster.
He wouldn't want it to be 'stuck' the next time he needed it.
B) A gunfighter ALWAYS reloads his gun before holstering it.
He wouldn't want it to be empty the next time he needed it.
LOL.
+ARQUITECTOSTAR To verify 38 not 45 cal, stop the video just where he points the gun AT the camera. A 45 bore would be as large as histrigger-fingernail! Re moccassins. They are very aggressive was why I loaded #9 shot in a cartridge and melted in candle wax and it usually took a couple rounds is whu I didnt get a shotgun. Had a couple neighbors who took a shotgun fishing because they had snakes drop down out of the trees on them. I did not use the 45 for much except snakes - too much noise. As I said, I preferred 22 long std vel rounds in my $25 Herters target revolver - until I got a bull bbl Ruger Mark I and had to go to LR hi vel to cycle the action. ;-)
+Frederick Wise*OH! I DIDN'T REALIZE HIS HOLSTER REVOLVER WAS A 38!*I REMEMBER ONE NORTHWEST RIVER/ OR WAS IT AN ALABAMA WATER MOCCASIN TOOK OVER MY FAVORITE FISHING SPOT! THIS SNAKE DIDN'T WANT TO BE CHASED AWAY WITH DIRT CLODS FOR MORE THAN A MINUTE....HE KEPT COMING BACK TO WHERE I WAS TRYING TO FISH. SINCE I WAS UP HIGH ON THE BANK'S TRAIL, HE DIDN'T COME TO ME..BUT I DIDN'T CHANCE TO LOSE MY BALANCE & PLACE MYSELF CLOSE TO SNAKE. SO I LEFT!
+ARQUITECTOSTAR RGR that, done. PS the way I know his revolver was a 38, I used to own a SAA Colt in 45LC calibre, the bore was nearly as big as his forefinger! Always wished it had a 7 1/2" barrel but pawn shop buy is pawn shop stuff!Bought it to load shotshell for water moccassins on the PAX. Had to shoot more than one at our pier where my son fished.

+ARQUITECTOSTAR No the long barrel revolver was a 38. Dont know about the derringer but I think the largest in the4 day was as you say a 38.Props should have had long barrelled 45;s in "stock" because Hugh O'brian carried a pair in his western series. PS did you know Hugh challenged Audie Murphy to a fast draw competition on one of their movie sets? Audie said yes but only if they used REAL bullets!!! He hadfaced real lead in WWII Hugh was a blow hard!
+Frederick Wise*I SUGGESTED TO ANOTHER FRIEND LEAVING THEIR EMAIL ON AS A REPLY JUST LONG ENOUGH FOR ME TO RETRIEVE IT & CONFIRM THAT I GOT IT. THEN TO IMMEDIATELY EDIT OUT THE EMAIL FROM THE REPLY IT WAS SENT ON.. THAT DID WORK, BUT THAT FRIEND SUPPOSEDLY HAD DIFFICULTY WITH THEIR EMAIL SERVICE, SO HAVE NOT USED EMAIL EXCHANGES YET.. UNLIKELY 1,000,000 WOULD EVER SEE IT, UNLIKELY THAT ONE WOULD EVEN DO SO..*WENT THROUGH 51+? FRED WISE AT FB, BUT DID NOT SEE A SWING FOTO..*THE 38 WAS PROBABLY THE DERRINGER PALADIN KEPT HIDDEN IN HIS BELT MOST OF THE TIME. WERE 45 DERRINGERS EVER MADE?
+ARQUITECTOSTAR Yes but racking my brain how to eliminate 1,000,000 others from getting in on it LOL Are you on facebook? Sounds like you had quite a Navy career. I didnt do college till my vet benefits afterward. One other Paladin comment comes to mind to interject. Seems strange that he would carry a 38 rather than a 44-40 or 45. If U R on FB. - fred wise with pic of swing. leave a message. We can go from there.
+Frederick Wisedo you have an email adr you would like to share?*I WAS AT TI c. '71 FOR 9 MONTHS. BEEP SCHOOL, ET 'A' SCHOOL, FOLLOWED BY TTY MAINTENANCE SCHOOL IN S.D., KL-47 SCHOOL AT MARE ISLAND. BEEP SCHOOL WAS JUST A 2-WEEK BREEZE TO COMPLETE AS I ALREADY GRADUATED FROM COLLEGE WITH A DEGREE IN TECHNICAL ELECTRONICS PRIOR TO ENLISTING. WAS ON BOARD 6 SHIPS-2 CRUISERS IN NORFOLK WITH VICE-ADMIRAL COM2NDFLT STAFF c. "72-"73, WITH A BRIEF ASSIGNMENT ON COMMUNICATIONS/TROOP TRANSPORT USS MT WHITNEY. TAD ON A FAST FRIGATE OUT OF YOKOSUKA JAPAN DURING AFGHANISTAN CRISIS c. '81. SOME FES [FLEET ELECTRONIC SUPPORT] YOKOSUKA VISITS TO A SUB & CARRIER.
+ARQUITECTOSTAR Chess 1st - I never got it marketed. Only two prototype boards nade and no "real" castings of my new pieces. I went in as an ETSN Mar of 58, became a CT M brancher and after ET school at TI, was stationed at Cheltenham MD. Made 3rd w propay '59, then 2nd w propay in '60; was transferred to Fingayan on Guam in Apr 61. Maintained all sorts of crypto gear and even modified some to be more efficient (without Navy permission I might add). Watched the 'bad guys' in the NW Pacific. I became the "go-to-guy" for all sorts of problems both military and personal. Was due to take test for 1st in '62. Wanted to reup for another 4 but they wanted me to stay on Guam another 8mo, refused to transfer me back to NSA for that reup, so I got out and came here on my own. PS Re TI, I also watch 'Nash Bridges' episodes that show the Barracuda and TI scenery; and it pains me to see the destruction of all the barracks and classrooms where I spent such good times. The Nav flew me to/from Guam so I never was on board a ship.I - really - still - feel - cheated that they beat me out of paying my respects at the Arizona Memorial; not enuf time between the connecting flights, both ways!!!!! Kinda wish there was some way to communicate other than take up so much space (publically) in Utube, you seem like an interesting person to exchange with!
+Frederick Wise☛☛☛ *THANKS FOR SHARING MORE ABOUT YOUR DAD. MY DAD WAS A NIGHT SHIFT AEROSPACE MACHINIST IN CHICAGO & SOUTH GATE CALIF. SPECIALIZING IN THE BROWN n SHARP AUTOMATIC SCREW MACHINES. HE ALWAYS PREFERRED NIGHTS. MUCH OF HIS 8 or 10-HR OVERTIME SHIFTS WERE ALSO ON HIS FEET. SPENT 1 SUMMER VACATION AS HIS MACHINIST'S HELPER-AGE 17. HE ALSO DID MOST OF HIS INTERIOR REMODELING IN HIS 1ST HOUSE AT 5717 N. RAVENSWOOD AVE. WITH 1/2 BASEMENT FLAT BEING A 1-BDRM RENTAL.*be interested in knowing more about your NAVY times? CONUS & OCONUS locations? Ships served aboard? I did 2 six year contracts back-to-back with DOD U.S. NAVY DEPT as a Communications/Cryptologic Tech Maintenance.*Your CHESS VERSIONS sound so familiar? but my site for playing board games, www.brainking.com does not seem to have them?
+ARQUITECTOSTAR Maybe I should explain why "Paladin" seems so important to me. It was my dads favorite TV show.I never really got to know my dad. I was barely 6 years old when WWIIbegan and my dad went to war. No not combat - he had two injured feetthey wouldnt take him, so he worked at a defense plant (Curtiss in ColoOh. making SB2C Helldivers) and stood on his feet 10 and 12 hours aday 6 and 7 days a week. Since he worked night shift I rarely saw him.Off to work before I got home from school, sleeping when I left the nextmorning. '46 to '50 he worked 2 and 3 jobs to buy a house for us andthen rebuild it (he put a full basement under a standing structure!!) ThenKorea (same aircraft sheet metal work) For 2 years after Korea and me out of H.S. we got to do a few things and then I was off to a stint in theNavy. He only lived a year after I got out.Of all the ones, late 50's til Mar of 63, he felt 'Have Gun Will Travel' was the only good, most real, western! So I watch Paladin.PS In 1998 I created -2- new versions of Chess for 12 or 16 pieces on a16x16 board (with 12x12 and 8x8 defined within it). 2 of the 'new' pieceswere the King's and Queen's 'Paladin'. Their function was the same as the 'L' movement of the Knights but more squares.

+ARQUITECTOSTAR No I was a few miles due north. Look where Rt 4 crosses the PAX, and just north of Rt 4 it nakes a jog east and is parallel to 4, then turns north again. I was about midway of that parallel section.I wasnt the only one who lived along that stretch and shot across the river but I tried to be more careful of the wildlife (and boaters) than someneighbor kids.
+Frederick Wise ☛☛☛ *FOUND THE PAX WATERSHED & SOME PHOTOS. NICE TO FOLLOW THE MEANDERING RIVER THROUGH IT's WATERSHED WITH GOOGLE EARTH MAP! HOW CONVENIENT FOR DOD U.S. NAVY DEPT. TO HAVE THEIR NAVAIRSTA WHERE THE RIVER DRAINS INTO THE BAY! YOUR RANGE PROBABLY NEAR KINGS LANDING PARK.
+ARQUITECTOSTAR Curious about the 'slippery holster' business. Itkinda sounds like the writers took a little literary license - again. lol My range was on the bank of the Pax river in Md. My side was about 20 feet higher than the opposite bank where my targets were set up so I was shooting downhill towards a mud bank. And beyond were almost 10 miles of open low land where the river meandered up thru the valley. The only thing I shot were 22's and I preferred low velocity longs (for reduced noise), so there was no danger up range if something DIDNT go into the mud bank. I could see about a half mile to either side, so if someone in a boat approached I quit. Lived there some 12 years with no incidents!
+Frederick Wise ☛☛☛ *IN ONE OF HIS LATER EPISODES, PALADIN TAUGHT ONE OF HIS STUDENTS THE ART OF CREATING A SLIPPERY HOLSTER THAT WOULD NEVER JAM! TECHNIQUE INVOLVED LINING THE HOLSTER POCKET WITH A PIECE OF CLOTH, AS I REMEMBER IT. WILL PLACE URL OF THAT EPISODE HERE FOR YOU IF I COME ACROSS IT AGAIN.
+Frederick Wise ☛☛☛ *I CAME BACK AFTER HAVING VIEWED WHAT I THOUGHT WAS ALL PALADIN EPISODES. HAD TRIED TO CATALOG THEM INTO INDIVIDUAL SEASONS.*NICE TO FIND YOUR NEWEST COMMENT HERE FREDERICK WISE! Awesome HGWT written by Gene Roddenberry. The dialogue while in the hay in
the barn had exquisite dialogue and full of wisdom. Thanks for posting
these, Dorothy Green. I started to think about this series and looked it
up. I've been astounded how good they are on so many levels. I'm binge
watching.
+A V Roddenberry is one of the best. I've gotten hooked on watching these shows from many years ago. I guess I should say rewatching them.
