In this video shot at various Southern and Northern California affiliates in November, CrossFit Inc. Founder and CEO Greg Glassman talks about Big Soda and ...
Here's all I know. I am an insulin dependent diabetic. I have end stage
renal disease and am on dialysis 3 days a week, 4 hours a session. Since
May, 2015 I am down 95 pounds. Down roughly 235 pounds since my highest
weight of 476.
Of course, for me, there were multiple issues at work. But my addiction
(yes, addiction) to High fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is certainly the
leading cause. For years and years I was a "soda-holic." Last year I ended
it. Cold turkey. No soda, diet soda, fruit juice, juice blends, juice
cocktails, Gatorade--nothing. I have a cup of coffee a day, a protein shake
every morning, decaf tea hot or cold and filtered water with lemon. Period.
I grew up in an Illinois city that practically invented corn sweeteners. We
had no idea this stuff is so treacherous. The US government price supports
corn so it is much more stable and available than beet or cane sugar. If
you do nothing else, I beg you to stop. You do NOT want this life tethered
to a kidney machine.
On the bright side, I just got out of my wheel chair and if I continue to
progress I am starting CrossFit fundamentals in March. Thank God.
+Hugh James wow man, you where Huge...but remenber that you CAN use anything in Little amoungs. What you need is cardio bro, believe me , i know what im saying.a better performet on your circulation and the problems are over
+Hugh James We'd love to talk with you about your experience, if you could send us a private message here with your contact info, our publishing team can reach out.
So I have a legitimate question. If they are going after sodas because
processed carbohydrates cause diabetes and such, then are they also going
after sports drinks like Gatorade and Powerade? To my knowledge there's no
difference in the processing done to the sugar in sodas and sports drinks,
so I can't see why not.
+John Cornwell CrossFit has been vocal about Gatorade's corruption of science as well. If you do a brief search on this channel and Google in general you'll find some good info.
+Scottosphere people choose what influence they fall prey to. There are plenty of propaganda talking about eating healthy and exercising. The lazy fatties choose to ignore those but be seduced by soda and potato chip ads.
+Ras Fiend I do not think we are getting anywhere in this discussion. Whether or not Big Soda should be allowed to advertise is one issue, but to deny that ads influence human decision-making is, at best, . . . hopeful.I wish you a happy, healthy holiday season.
+Scottosphere I don't care what the govt wants - the issue is people need to stop blaming external stimuli and take on more personal responsibility for what they put in their mouths - full stop
+Ras Fiend Where's the money in that? Have you ever heard of Big Broccoli? I think you assume the government wants people to be healthy. That's incorrect. The government wants to stay in power. Full stop.
+Ras Fiend I'm saying ads are a contributing factor in causing children to drink soda. You said the word "making", not me. But maybe that's semantics. The fact is, ads affect behavior.
+Scottosphere If big soda is guilty of MAKING kids drink soda because of ads, why doesn't the President's Council on Physical Fitness run a bunch of ads telling kids to eat their broccoli and spinach? If we think people no longer have the power of choice as to what they put in their mouths - and we are all dumb zombies that do what ads tell us to do - I think it is malpractice that the Prez council on fitness does not have veggie commercials - then all problems can be solved with ads!
+Ras Fiend Don't forget lack of education. But frankly, big soda IS a problem: Ads everywhere, especially targeting children; no warning labels; government subsidies for HFCS; purchased science; the list is endless.
I love Crossfit, but come on! Why are we still giving this guy so much
credit. He is the biggest hypocrite I have ever seen. He doesn't even
participate in the activity he endorses. It's all about the money for him.
Keep drinking the cool-aid and paying his bills. He is why I will never
affiliate my gym.
+Mike Tracy Why cannot hypocrites be right? Knowing what to do (not that I am saying he knows) and doing it are two different animals entirely. Some excel at the former, some at the latter, and a rare few, both. Eric Cressey is a good exercise example of the last category. Joel Fuhrman is a good nutrition example. Following your own advice is, at best, a positive anecdote. Nothing more.

So how much does it cost to homeschool a child? A few textbooks and some of
the parents precious time? First of all.. ITS YOURRRRRRR CHILD!!! If you
want YOUR CHILD to have a good education... SIT DOWN WITH YOURRRR CHILD AND
GIVE HIM AN EDUCATION! Spend some time with your kid and teach them what
they need to know in life. STOP putting all the blame for your dumbass kids
on the public school system. If youd get off your ass once in a while and
open a book, maybe Billy wouldnt be dumb as a rock!
Frankly as cold as this might sound I think this bill is of far more
importance than our so called education system... And a brief glance at
most of the negative news broadcast on the air or at a good variety of our
"public entertainment" shows can more than speak volumes for where your
beloved tax dollars have been going in that regard as is... Throwing more
money away on something that simply either does not want to or merely lacks
the capacity to learn is foolishness of the highest order...
@TheArcticVanguard To be completely blunt not a singe one of those kids is
likely to even set foot in an office unless it's in a janitorial uniform...
(Which is just as how things are now) We are talking about bottom of the
barrel to slightly mid range public school's not high end private ones you
have to pay far out the ass to send your kids off to... Unless your kid is
brilliant in the first place (In which case you have NOTHING TO WORRY
ABOUT) s/he is probably going to have moderate goals.
In regards to the California university system, Cenk says: "it's actually
in the constitution of California that you're supposed to get a free
education", but this is all I could find, and it doesn't seem to apply:
CALIFORNIA CONSTITUTION ARTICLE 9 EDUCATION SEC. 5. The Legislature shall
provide for a system of common schools by which a free school shall be kept
up and supported in each district at least six months in every year, after
the first year in which a school has been established.
@Joxman2k Cont: It's so ridiculous; if they are going to ignore real
scientific work, just ignore it all, don't make a mockery out of it like
that. They do the same thing with the Big Bang with ther "Cosmological
Argument" where they note that scientists now say our universe had a
beginning (even though that's not really what the Big Bang postulates). The
same studies that discovered the Big Bang were where they found the 13.72
byo universe. Yet, for some reason that part of it is wrong.
Response to 1:00 There are two elements in terms of tax revenue; the tax
rate and the tax base. The tax rate (which is limited by prop 13) is how
much tax any one person or business is charged. The tax base is how many
people and businesses there are paying taxes. As the population grows the
revenue needs of the government grows but so does the tax base. If anything
economies of scale should allow the government to reduce the tax rate while
maintaining the same level of service. cont...
@jimbrown257 ".... go to jail if he is picked to be one of our gay citizens
and does not comply; so he would go to jail for not commiting sodomy." That
actually makes sense because sodomy and homosexuality is law ... right now
isn't it? I thought it was part of the health-care bill. The universe is
not 2 1/2 years old! It is actually much older. Christian SCIENTISTS
estimate it at least 15 years before Christ...... so .... 8 + 2 carry the
one is .....elevety hundred years ago!!! :P
I kind of have to admit, I think this animal abuse registry is actually a
good idea, because at a relatively small annual cost (500K-1mill a year) we
can probably save a LOT more by not having to try, prosecute and jail the
idiots who abuse animals over and over. If they aren't allowed to have
animals in the first place, we won't have to spend money rescuing the
animals and then spend a TON more money putting the repeat offenders
through the legal system again and again.
@koala8 Maybe not PETA specifically. Animal Nazi's for sure. Progressives
think that they can legislate the world's problems away. There is NO proof
for this theory. As an example, think of all the disclosures you get in the
mail from any mutual fund you own. Every one of these is a progressive
response to your right to be well informed. The effect of them is only to
make a person more confused. This animal registry will be an ineffective
waste of money.
@Joxman2k That reminds me of a picture from the Creation Museum with their
geological time scale. It shows 4004 BC to present day. It still has the
cenozic, mesozoic, paleozoic (etc) eras and the Jurassic, Triassic, Permian
(etc) periods but they are all in one tiny slice at the very beginning,
like they are all condensed in the first five years! If they are going to
ignore real scientific work, ignore ALL of it, don't twist it around like
that.
The problem with this theory is twofold: First, inflation continually
devalues the currency which makes previous levels of per capita tax income
insufficient to maintain the same level of services. Inflation is caused by
the Federal Government and is beyond California's control. Second, people
keep demanding more and more government services and refuse to prioritize
by eliminating existing programs to pay for new ones. Thank you for
listening.
Why would it cost so much? All it is is a database. The set up and data
entry might cost a bit to begin with, but it could almost be completely
automated. Heck even the human society could run it, and all the courts
would need to do is send an email or fill out an online form. The
infrastructure is already there. I don't know... it is important. Some
Serial Killers often get their start by mutilating animals. It could be an
important tool. :P
you are wrong to say you disagree with him entirely. He in fact agrees with
the policy of a registry. Whjat he did not agree with was raisng statewide
taxes to create one. You clearly werent listening. A more productive route
to take would be to suggest alternate ways of funding such a program like
maybe a tax on cute little pet outfits..... or increased fines for animal
abusers...... but you first have to solve your problem of not listening.
@Joxman2k I heard that with Obama-care, the government will get to decide
which one out of ten Americans is gay, then if they don't gay-marry they
get put in jail. And the lesbians are going to have to undergo mandatory
artificial-insemination so they can force them to have abortions. And all
children under two will have to take an IQ test and anyone who gets below a
97 gets "put down". Did you know Thomas Jefferson never really existed?
@koala8 When I tried to adopt that cat in LA, the cost was $130 which was
great because it would discourage irresponsible people who shouldn't have
pets and the money was used for the cat's shots and stuff like that; the
stuff you are supposed to get for your pet, this way they made sure it got
done. The main reason I got a cat in Michigan instead (when I moved) is I
realized the one in CA had a much better chance then the MI cat.
@jimbrown257 Well unfortunately many people who live in big cities see the
homeless as a problem to be swept under the rug... not all but many. I'm
certain our doctors and nurses get bitter about treating the drug addicted
homeless, but they have no choice but to provide care and every person,
whether they have an address or not has the right to due process, and is
protected by our Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. :P
@jimbrown257 ...so a person convicted of sodomizing will be put in jail
were he can be sodomized. I guess thats southern logic. Actually it is any
child under two years old that surpasses an adult and the score is over 97,
and the adult is a southern Republican, then the adult gets free cookies
for life... and a private Christian education and political nomination when
he commits adultery. :P
Here's an idea, which probably isn't that good. When people are arrested or
punished somehow for abusing animals, make them pay a hefty fine, and that
money will go towards keeping up this registry. That way, they're basically
paying for their own punishment, and it might help keep taxes low. I agree
with you guys though, in theory the registry sounds great but is it
plausible financially?
That's a lot of money to pay for a website and a database. Why the hell
would it cost so much money. Would they be hiring several relatives who's
job is to solely watch over only this registry? I smell graft behind this
proposal, really. Not a bad idea, and I'd take it a step further and make a
child abuser registry, but not at pork level spending and a ridiculous
management scheme.
@menthol5 But by raising taxes for the sake of having this registry as
opposed to lowering the costs of education, we're turning our back on the
children of California for the sake of some animals. Animals are important,
but the future is even more so. Yes, pets are vulnerable, but I'd rather
animals be abused than to deny the future leaders of this country an
education.
Good points. I think that this abusers registery should be implemented and
it should be seriously considerd. I agree that if taxes need to be raised,
they should incorperate alot of the imidiate costs too, not just the pet
abuse registery. On a simular note as one comment also pointed out, there
needs to be a clear line between real abuse and disciplin for pet owners.
I fully support a system that protects the rights of animals (which should
be expanded and more enforced) and I do believe animal abusers should be
flagged when applying, for example, for a breeding license or adoption. Why
shouldn't animals who can feel the same pain we can, who have emotions just
like we do, have to have their suffering being at best 'tolerated'?
I'm glad to hear that Cenk finally agrees that the California
liberals/progressives are "mental" cases However, I still prefer Rahm
Emanuel's label of progressives as "fucking morons" as to the Registry,
it's certain that California can not go to China for a loan! The Chinese do
not see abuse of cats and dogs as a problem,...they simply eat them!
@jimbrown257 I live in Ontario, Canada, and our humane societies don't put
animals to sleep unless they are non-adoptable (violent) or too sick to
survive. In the municipality where I live we are not required to fix pets,
but there is a two pet maximum and there is often a pet fixing drive where
vets neuter pets at reduced cost to pet owners. :P

Mandatory Vaccine Madness Spreading, Registry to Track Your Status
Please like my fb page //facebook.com/thetruthergirls From USA to Autralia, governments are trying to make vaccines mandatory and do away with ...
Glad you hit on the religious persecution with this. Nobody has been
mentioning this as it is a violation of constitutional rights! religious
freedom which is the last foundation of objection to a draconian state. In
Australia they are stating that if you have a religious objection to
vaccine, you have to prove that you are part of a religion that is
registered with the government as anti vaccine. We are going back to the
dark ages where church and state dictate our every move. There is more to
this than vaccines and I would not doubt that the Vatican and the UN are
behind this move.
sure that might be a good idea so long as they get a business number and register it with the Australian government. After all, this is all about merchant law right?
+7nd1 Then someone is going to have to start a church online that states it goes against its beliefs to consume human fetal products or unclean animal products, or vaccines in general. And they should hand out certificates to its members, and there is your proof.
+7nd1 I would just like to say that in my bible there are severl scriptures that I can use to prove my objection to vaccine but apparently that is not enough! I now have to join a religious "club" to prove my faith!
It's like a paranoia atmosphere these days. I was at the dr's office again
in february and i got chewed out from my dr & all the nurses for not
getting a flu vaccine. They said NOW YOU HAVE TO BE TESTED for influenza. I
tested negative but they don't like me over there even though i ALWAYS pay.
And...... my dr even threatened me when she said if i test positive she
wouldn't allow me to go to work for 1 week. Bet if i had videoed it that
day it would've looked like a SNL episode.
+thetruthergirls I don't think we're reading the same information or we're interpreting it differently. I saw nothing about same house hold education. I did see it includes "private" schools and did research homeschooling there is no distinction between homeschool and private school.
It may be a blessing in disguise,Home schooling. They have sterilization
goodies hidden in the vaccines! Population control! Or maybe a hypnotic
chemical so you do what your told.
+laserus3333 you nailed it, all about control. elites are obsessed with it.my cousins were home schooled, theyre super smart, mature beyond other kids their age, graduated early, theyre age 12-18, but youd think they were 20-30. Convinced home schooling has big advantages.
If you must vaccinate, do a chelation on your child afterwords. I think
many will not be able to resist the pressure. Also Dr. Sears 'The Vaccine
Book' is a great resource for making the vaccinations safer if you still
have to do them. It's not necessarily a do or die situation. You can find
some middle ground. Though if they try this in my state, I'll be protesting
at the capitol.
+Mountain Mama good idea, cilantro-chlorella would help counter maybe, but best to avoid it all if possible. same with antibiotics, they used me like guinea pig, round after round, with no probiotics to balance it out, theyre tripping so many people into the AS world with vaccines and antibiotics, profit and population agenda hidden under the veil of traditional medical practice, and America unfortunately, loves tradition.
+skywriter1962 Seriously, you'd think if you could get a fake business degree online, you could get a fake vaccination certificate, or that there would be some underground doctors who would go along with a 'let's not and say we did'.
Supposedly only 3% of the population at the time of the American
Revolution, wanted to rebel against the Crown.
97% were happy to remain subjects of England.
