The DREAM Act would give students who are valuable asset to this country a chance to help better it. They love the USA because it is also their country, whether they were born here or not. The money that would be given to them would be EARNED. Some American students get gov't money and go to school to disrupt others. Those who qualify for the DREAM Act are students who get straight A's and B's. Only an ignorant person would not give them a chance to better this country. PASS THE DREAM ACT!!

apparently you haven't read the bill in its entirety. It gives a pathway to citizenship for people whi came to the US when they were under 16 and have received good grades and displayed good citizenship. Being a citizen entitles them to government loans and grants. It depletes resources which should be going towards Americans. I think the American government is accountable to us, Americans not to foreigners. France or Saudi Arabia would never give us that why should they be any different

Eduardo here is another example of an easy going Hispanic who just won't be bothered to make the slightest effort to integrate into American culture. If you're living in America, you could, oh, I don't know, try to learn some English! I studied Mandarin Chinese for 4 semesters. Mandarin is a challenging language. But most of the Hispanics just can't handle the mental effort of learning English. Now their illegal kids want to go to American universities! Most of them would drop out!

i dont get why people say "we are paying for their education" when in reality your on giving them like what 50 cents"? the rest is payed by other americans who either dont complain or just dont care. im sure if your parents were born here and they went to a different country as av action and you were given birth over you would like to come back right? this will increase the ECONOMY! hello California alone is short 25,000 nurses!! are those illegals taking these jobs as well?

I read a long list of traffic accidents in North America, all caused by one drunken Mexican/Hispanic after another. When Chinese came in the early 1900s, they were horribly treated. But the improved their lives with education. The Hispanics just want whatever they can get, they don't respect our laws. Their neighborhoods are full of trash. Most of them are fat, most of their kids are fat. Very few of them could survive at university. Send them back to Guatemala and Mexico.

@youayntfresh Were not but the law says otherwise. Plus your able to become an American just like every other person as long as you go through the correct proceedings. Anyone can become an American as long as you follow the rules. No other country is bending their laws for immigrants why should America. It is not American families fault that your parents brought you here illegally. Go back to your homeland and make it a better place for you and your citizens.

Why would anyone pass it? Are these Criminal Invaders from a foriegn country (act of war) trying to extort the Americans into paying for everything for them? They are due nothing. They steal health care, schools, jobs from the American who pay for these things. They should be shot crossing the border and everyone should be put in prison that is caught in the U.S. A millitary for Prisoners of War.

i do admit its not right the fact that many immigrants come to U.S illegal by choice but when you're brought here with no falut of your own and grow up as americans you should definitely be given the oppurtunty to remain in the country you grew up in. and continue your education in order to pursue your dreams like any other american its only fair

Hey, did you know that if you report a AB540 to ICE off campus as a known illegal they will pick them up? Isn't that great news? 11 gone this semester from our local CA CC alone! 905 illegals arrested in San Diego on sweeps this month, and more to come! @youayntfresh I disagree. If the Dream Act passes, the overall impact would be significantly NEGATIVE. Illegals would tend to NOT repay the loans, and NOT finish their education, or NOT retain meaningful employment (only a select few percentage will)--thus, more DEBT (at the expense of taxpayers, the majority of which are USA citizens!)

@DerailAmnestydotcom yeah you do! the redention of 2009 says you MUST have a HS diploma AND get your bachelors if you don't then you won't get PARTIAL RESIDENCY after 5/12 years then you are eligible for permanent residency and then later on become a citizen! get educated first before speaking

is it worth going to college and get a higher education anyway when they don't have a SSN to start working. The easiest thing is study, then the financial support, but what about a SSN. Yes, it would be awesome say you are graduated student, but when it come to get a job, what do you do?

That's really not accurate. The DREAM Act would not require an illegal alien teenager to have good HS grades, to finish college, or even to have a HS Diploma. The reality is that it is one big partial amnesty for illegals, most of whom would have marginal academic credentials.

Wow I am amazed at how many people are so concerned with the fact that their tax money goes to help people get a chance of becoming a person of meaning for their community. I don't pay 4 billion dollars in taxes a year, like some people say they do in the comments section: however I do mind when my money goes to the war effort which is stained with countless "casualties" which is simpler words mean sobody's daugther, son, or somebody's parents. I'm of course talking about innocent civiliants.

These illegal aliens are taking money and classroom seats that should go to legal residents. I didnt see anyone jump up to help when citizens of this country cant afford to go to school.
