SHOTOKAN - KUGB - Old Archive Film
These old film clips show Terry O'Neil - Bob Poynton - Steve Cattle and a young Frank Brennan. Poynton, Cattle and Brennan give a nice team kata performance ...
Terry o,neil is a legend.i met him at robbie rileys funeral and recently on
the door where i work with tim witherspoon, im 1st dan blackbelt kickboxer
who fought for robbies charity night and raised the money to buy his
headstone, its been an honour to meet terry on both occasions....hes a
gentleman and a legend and im glad to say that ive shook his hand.paul
smith.wallasey champion light heavyweight champion.
This is so great! I was in Bremen and remember so clearly Yahara vs Mori,
Brennan vs Dacic (and losing - bizarre as Brennan totally dominated) and
then the awful final with Dacic running from Mori and losing by jogai
hansoku. Any footage of the first round with Brennan taking out Mori in
gorgeous style?
Crisp Clean Sharp Techniques very well focused...And you couldnt pick the
cordination & Timing not even with a toothpick This is Karate....Karate at
its best It was clips I saw like this as a very young teen that inspired
me.What a great clip thanks for sharing.
Great Stuff! Karate in the good old days when the spirit was alive. I
particularly loved watching the three girls June Simpson, Wai Yin Hatten
and Sandy Hopkins perform. I do believe this is the world championships in
Bremen?
this is simply beautiful and does anyone agree with me that it looks far
more 'martial art' than a lot (but not all) of what we see today - no
padding, fast and furious and refs having to dive in and divide them?
Here you see the best of the best! O'Neill , Cattle and Brennan.....
Legends! Back then it was mainly Ippon, no wasting time or warnings to help
you win! You bowed , kamae and then start your fight. Excellent.
Unfortunately, not - this particular clip was taken from some old 8mm film.
We do have other footage from the event, but nothing from the earlier fight.
