Nintendo Punch-Out!! Arcade Cabinet Machine - NOT MAME!

Nice job on the restoration. I just tracked down one of these for a friend.
The condition wasn't nearly as bad as what you started with here - which is
good because I know zero about restoring cabinets and my knowledge of the
inner workings is pretty much limited to adjusting dip switches. I noticed
yours has more sound effects than mine - crowd noise, music when you lose,
etc. Do you know if this is a setting, or is this something they added with
a later revision?
Congrats! I know the excitement of getting one of these. It was my first
game and is still my most cherished. If I ever have to give some cabs up,
this will be the last to go. I'm currently in the process of restoring the
panel on mine. I'm kinda regretting it actually as the original cpo was in
pretty good shape. I guess when the rest of the cab is mint, the cpo looks
that much worse. Oh well, enjoy your game. I'll do the same soon enough.
@KaneRobot There are two sets of sounds. Each monitor handles the sounds of
one of the two sets individually. If one of the monitors sound output is
not working or if there is a board issue it is possible to have only half
the sounds. So, it is possible that one of monitor's volume controls are
turned all the way down or there is a problem with one of the monitor's
sound amp or it is a board issue.
This arcade game was released in 1984, between the 1983 North American VG
Crash and the year Nintendo of America released the NES. The NES version is
the most recognizable, due to home-gaming being more convenient than
arcade-gaming. A similar thing happened to Tecmo's Star Force, Namco's The
Tower of Druaga and Irem's Kung-Fu Master arcades.
maaan you have an absolute gorgeous awesome set up of arcades... nice!..
but the thing is that all the people who has awesome collections, complete
collections sets, arcades, complete snes collections, genesis sets, sega cd
complete, etc... they´re always a little sucky when they play hahahaha...no
ofense... cheers!!
If you notice the the eyes on the fighters until you become champion. They
turn yellow which means they are fixing to attack you. Also, when they back
off and then come at you, if you time it right. you can knock them out with
one shot.
I really need to find out if they made video boards for joining 2 screens
on an lcd display. Some time ago I got to barrow a nice 32 in and tried
running mame on it with successful results. I could use this as a cab
project someday.
I love the Smell of Carbolinoleum.Arcade Rules. What was the Name of this
Game ,were you are a Bouncer and threat People like a Basketball and throw
them out the Bar.I forgot it.Was it "Bouncer"? It was so cool.
Congrats on getting that cabinet. I can just imagine how hard it is to find
an original Punch Out. It looks like the restoration came out great. Thanks
for sharing the view.
+juantwo3 ikr? Just like how im pretty sure my brothers ex-gurlfriend's family ,who (i wont say first names) but whos last name is Perdue, made the Perdue Chicken Dynasty.

I love how Nintendo got away with advertising more of its products in a
video game. Really classy if you ask me. It's kinda a like a cameo, except
instead of being your favourite character from another series, it's a
company asking for more of your money after you spent money already.
+Gorgia Mallich Ok.. I'll try to be more clear this time, and see if you can answer (because I highly doubt you didn't understand my question). How exactly are they asking for more money after you spent money already?
Jef - I don't know you, but I feel that you are my brother from another
mother. First 720, now Super Punchout! I would love to have access to these
machines again - I would challenge your scores!
I've been looking into speedrunning stuff for the arcade punchouts
recently. If you're wondering how you beat Vodka in 44 seconds, you
probably got the good health refill out of him for the 2nd phase. The way
you manipulate favorable refills in these games typically is by knocking
them down with a super punch as opposed to a regular punch. I uploaded a
bunch of videos on both games if you're interested in some of the stuff I
found. Maybe you could give me some pointers on stuff I may have
overlooked! After all, I'm pretty new to playing these games.
+Biomech011 I was actually considering doing Easy dip switch settings because that appeared to be default arcade settings according to MAME anyways. I was also planning following that up with the dips on "Hardest" difficulty afterwards. It's a pretty common speedrunning practice to go for easy/hard runs of games, so that seemed like the way to go to me. I also have the timer set to "Longest" for all situations because it more accurately reflects real time than the other timer settings, plus it always felt like that was just a setting specifically designed to give Arcade owners the option to run the time out faster for more quarters, haha. I've heard some of the PCB versions actually have differences from MAME, so whenever I get a running hardware setup, it should be interesting to mess with.
+zallard1 Man, Good Luck on that dual monitor Super Gun. Never thought of that. I saw some of your Vids. Perhaps you wanna set the Dip setting to what we have which is Difficulty: 1 Time: 1On Mame that would be Difficulty: MED. Time: LONG.I'd like to see some of those time. See How much difference MAME is to Original PCB.
+Biomech011 I don't have a cabinet, so all my gameplay has been on MAME so far. I am looking into getting an original PCB for both of the original Punchouts and playing the games on a supergun setup, so eventually I will be playing on hardware. It'll be a while though, since as you can imagine, getting Punchout to work on a supergun will take quite a bit of work since it's a dual screen game & predates the JAMMA standard.
+zallard1 Are you playing on Original Hardware or MAME....?

Here's a game play video of Super Punch-Out!!. The arcade sequel to Nintendo's Punch-Out!! One of my favorite games of all time. I own this game, and this is ...
Joe. these are so rare . I used to work at a restaurant and it was in the
game room. I started playing this one instead of regular punch out. I don't
remember it being as hard as everyone says. But that was, a long time ago .
+Randy Adams yeah, these PCBs and 5 way joysticks go for a pretty penny these days. This is actually the 2nd SPO I've owned, ha. I've been lucky for sure. I never remembered seeing SPO in the wild as a kid, but I played the crap out of it on the SNES. Love this game!
+Joe Senigaglia SC3 was pretty fun. Will def go again. My 17yr old daughter got a kick out of playing Dragon's Lair, Spy Hunter and Asteroids Deluxe. Here is the full game list that was there. Nintendo's marketing department in the 1980's declared that all titles released on Nintendo home systems needed to be family-friendly. This led to the Mortal ...
They kept all the drinking references in the NES game, not to mention the arcade game here. Besides, the whole point of every opponent is that they're a caricature of various national stereotypes. The name was changed because of the alcoholic reference.
