A few days ago, the bottom freezer door was left ajar for some time before
we noticed it. Will this cause a frost build-up problem that may not self
correct even if the control panel is OK?
I ran a diagnostic check of the control board: Test 1 for Defrost displayed
a 0 then quickly displayed 5.
Can you just replace the control board without going through the manual
defrosting procedure?

Ditto what Randy A said ... EXCELLENT how-to video!!
I'd figured out on my own that the defrost cycle wasn't working but had
thought it was a bad defrost heater. I ran the on-board diagnostics and
everything else was OK. I had not considered that the control board could
go bad until I saw your video.
Nevertheless, I wondered why you did not check the defrost heater? After
viewing your video, I did more research and discovered that the control
board frequently failed and that the defrost heater rarely failed (a fact
that the appliance parts guy later confirmed). So, your depth of
experience showed well here.
Viewing your video made removing the control board housing easy. I
probably could have figured it out but probably would have broken one or
more of the mounting tabs. Your video saved me a lot of potential grief.
Thanks.

I have a kitchen-aid heavy duty plus top loading it's about 10-12 years old
now. Every time I change the setting from cotton/towels to any other type
of cycle say hand wash or perm press the problem begins but not during that
load, the problems begins during the next load. It washes fine but after it
fills for the rinse cycle it freezes for 2-4 hours then it works. This will
happen for the next 2-3 weeks then straightens out as long as no one
changes the type of load washing. This has gone on since 6 months of
purchase. When I called the manufacturer they told me I could call a repair
man all at my expense. I did it was going to cost more than the machine.
What should I be looking for? Thank you.

Is this guy on crack!? Very reckless tech, seems to have no concern for the
home owners property. Throwing tools on dryer and overall just sloppy and
reckless. I enjoy watching your videos to compare to my service techniques,
but a lot of your techs seem in a hurry and overlook basic common sense
service practices with regard to neatness and respect to the property. Your
guys are sharp and no intention to insult, just maybe a reminder of
neatness and professional services

Service your trusty Maytag Refrigerator which has these following dilemmas: Leaking water Visit us at //www.appliancevideo.com To do the repair you need ...
I love the video. I have had a repair man here two time to fix my leaking
freezer in the last 6 months. I always watch the repair man to see what
they do. they never got it fixed. So I thought that I could do in myself, I
saw your video it looked so easy. The one thing that the repair
person did not do was the plug in the back and didn't declog the drain. So
I did it took me 3 hour because of all of the ice to melt. It's been 3
months and no water on the floor. thanks keep up with these great video

Thank you so much, although much drain hole was much more solid ice i ended
up using a hair dryer to unclog the drain then used the hot water to clear
the rest. For those of you with different shelving - here is a great video
that i needed to remove mine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UB7jPvwUrw

I called Maytag Regarding the leak on MFI2269VEM model. They agree there is
a recall and there is a package to be replaced ( a new piece of 1.5 white
tube or so ) but they want me to pay for the service man charge of around
$200. I guess not been punished enough to listen to the wife and buy a
crappy fridge from Maytag, now I have to pay for their acknowledged mistake
in design as well. Good job mfs

The directions in the video were perfect! The only thing I would add is
that to possibly make this fix a little more permanent is to use a 12- or
14-gauge copper or alumimum wire that hooks around the coil and then
extends inside the drain hole until it is about 1 inch below the opening of
the drain behind the fridge. The plumber was able to wrap around the coil
once and then pass it through the drain where I could feel it. We then cut
the wire until it was 1 inch or so below the rubber cup that covers the
drain behind the fridge. From what I have read, when the coil heats up as
part of the defrosting process, the heat will help melt the ice in the
drain so that it does not freeze up again. I don't know much about the new
kit that is available through appliance video, but I would think it would
have a similar effect as described above. I just did this today. If it
doesn't work, then I will be back to post here.
Florida Great information, they do make a conductor kit that is exactly what you are talking about. That is only for problem drains that plug up more than once . Thank you for your positive comment. +ApplianceVideo.com I have a Whirlpool from the early 80's. My timer is hot advancing. I want to know how to repair the original timer since Whirlpool does not make the part any more. Or I wonder if there is a universal timer switch that will have the same power connections and mounting brackets? Either way let me know, we have been tapping on the dial for years now to get the dial to more to the next cycle.
