+tonkingtommoexceptions..but generally speaking.its harder for batsmen to negotiate skiddy bowlers since they come to you quicker than you expect..wasim had the benefit from this.he used have a small run up and come in and bowl very quickly sometimes so batsman had very less time to understand what he was doing..fast arms action helped most bowlers.
i loved him Peter and the other quartet to no one in there class

It looks ridiculous, how come u give such bad comments on our own sporting legends. What kind of satisfaction that would give to you...As I know, before Sachin Indian-batting was not feared of by any bowling unit. And if u have any idea, he scored his first century in ODIs in 75th match... We are having good young players now, but remember almost everyone including Virat has influence of Sachin on him...Cool man, with such hatred u are hurting urself only if u think u are part of India.
+Bublu BhuyanYaa, I am waiting to hear from those Dhoni fans who credited dhoni alone for winning 2011 world cup as if playing in final is birth right of indian team. And Tendulkar Yuvraj etc played no role.I wonder why Yuvraj was the player of tournament and not dhoni.
+Sal Musa that was a DARK day for him... he was unhappy with the selection of Venkatraghavan as the captain...and he decided to take "revenge" in his own way...of course that was a huge MISTAKE;no excuse of scoring 36 facing 180 balls, chasing a target of 330!!..any other country(say Australia) would have suspended him for 1 year if he had played like that for them....even a kid would understand that one can achieve such a "feat" only by playing deliberately....that was one problem with sunil gavaskar;sometimes putting himself and his personal issues over the team's cause!!...those days, kapil dev used to have a bigger fan-following mainly becoz of that!!but he is the BEST batsman ever produced by India and we should lay it off...He has done so much for Indian cricket lifting its pride in 1970s!!
All of them - Gavaskar, Tendulkar (and few more as well, incl. today's Kohli) are/ have been greatest batsman. There is enough place on the top for all great players, so we should not force ourselves to choose one over another. Gavaskar is world renowned for his technique (finest example: his last test innings of 96 in Bangalore), and for all records he made (first one to make 10,000 runs, 34 test centuries, most catches, most test matches: 106 in a row etc). He was not explosive like Sachin/ Viv Richards, but most often he used to play anchor innings, in both test match and one dayers. Indian batting was highly dependent on him and thus he was forced to limit his shots. People often give example of that infamous '75 World cup innings in Lord's. But it was an aberration. From beginning, when Gavaskar scored 774 runs in his debut series against West Indies, which included 3 centuries and a double century, Gavaskar was reasonably fast in scoring, but as said, was forced to trim down his shots selection to less risky ones. Also, Larwood did not play any test, surprisingly, after the bodyline series, since he was not picked up by selectors. As the story goes, he was asked to apologize for his actions in bodyline series - viz. his bowling with an intent to hurt batsmen, due to which bodyline series as well as further Ashes series were about to be cancelled by Australian board of Cricket. He refused, saying that he was just obeying orders from his captain Douglas Jardin. Because of the few matches he played, his record may seem ordinary, but he was the most feared fast bowler of his time, and could consistently bowl fast balls with amazing accuracy. It is conjectured that his bowling speed was easily past 90 mi/ hr in his prime. In short, he was the 'Malcolm Marshall' of his era. Short statured (at 5' 8", he was shorter than many English/ Aussie players of that time), fast, accurate and deadly, Larwood was indeed a feared bowlers. But we also must not forget that batsmen of that era did not have as good protective gears as of today, thus making the bowlers seem more deadly than they possibly would appear in today's times.
+Vijay Gautam Not to put a fine point on it (I do not think SMG ihe greatest batsman ever born), the records of Voce and indeed Larwood are pretty ordinary. Larwood's is in fact pretty pedestrian if you take the Bodyline series out.
Bradman faced pace battery of Harold Larwood, Bill Voce, Bill Bowas etc. And those fast bowlers, especially Larwood, were extremely dangerous (they were the same fast bowlers used by Douglas Jardin, the English Captain in the infamous bodyline series. Many of the Australian batsmen were hit badly by their dreaded beamers and bouncers, except one man. Also, Bradman hit 300+ runs in a day twice, if I remember the records correctly. It is not for nothing that he is called the All Time Great. That said, Mr. Bradman himself acknowledged Sunny as most prolific run getter and superior technique, and Sachin as the one 'whose technique appears to be exactly like him' (Bradman revealed that he discussed this with him wife and family, and they also agreed). Sachin was specially invited by Bradman to his home, when India toured Australia in 1999, and Sachin considers huge applause by normally reticent Bradman to be among his greatest rewards. Australians have huge respect for Donald Bradman, and instantly showered respect to Sachin as well after this. Melbourne, where Bradman used to live, had special place for Sachin in its heart, and whenever Sachin used to come into bat at MCG, it was a heavy round of applause for him. Aussies from Melbourne always loved to see this 'second Bradman'.
+tom, jones and have you ever heard of other non-white greats who have played the game? Donald Bradman et al never played against the greatest battery of fast bowlers (West Indies) which Gavasker played against.
Have you ever heard of Donald Brad Man, Wally Hammond, Jack Hobbs? If not then do some research. You'll know the difference. Now that does not mean that I have something against you or Sunil or India. I am just trying to tell you what you do not know. Thanks!
Gavaskar had a superior defensive technique. Whereas, Sachin had wider range of attacking strokes and much more balance when he played his shots. I agree its difficult to compare both batsman as they both have incredible feats like both averaging highest against the best teams of the era ( WI and Aus) !
having watched both tendulkar and gavaskar play, as a test batsman gavaskar was slightly better batsman specially when defense and temperament is concerned. Buts that is everything else tendulkar is better batsman (tests odi combined).

+Anjesh Sharma when will Indians get their heads out of their backsides. Donald is talking about Waqar and other great bowlers yet you are talking about Sachin. I respect him highly but this comment is extremist and stupid. Remember when he was bowled for nought in a test by Shoaib?
+Anjesh Sharma Maybe so, but this video is not about Sachin Tendulkar. No. It's the great Alan Donald talking about the equally great Waqar Younis with no mention of Tendulkar.Try to keep taking your ADD meds and stay FOCUSED.
