Chimney Oak Failure (What would YOU do)

Okay, this is the situation I walked into. What would YOU do? This tree is balanced on one tip of the chimney. The roots are half in the ground. It fell about 15 feet.

Can't, the tree is balanced on the tip of the chimney. We wanted to.

That's a tricky one. Keep safe.

Any chance of getting guy lines to surrounding trees for additional support?
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-fjLutRHe75o/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAABI/64WH1K6OgoQ/photo.jpg?sz=64
+WhyKnot Nope, what you see is what you have to work with. Even if the tree was growing upright would have been easier. Kinda like working off the end of a fishing pole. Video coming, working on the edit now.

Hope all goes well that is a scary looking situation, be careful. Hope Mr. Murphy is on vacation for this one.

Thanks John, The follow up video will be good!

Wowza - that should be a challenge. I like the A-frame idea, though. No telling what little tiny shift in weight might cause the chimney to collapse or fall to the side. Stabilize that thing.

I did the job, it came out good but it was really a challenge. The balance point kept shifting and we could not use a crane to lift anything. Follow up video is coming.

Crane and bucket piece it out till where it's connected with the chimney make one final cut half way up the trunk

That's pretty close. What we didn't count on was the whole tree was balanced on that tip. As we worked one side, the tree shifted.
