Pulled the lever and it came straight to the handlebar. Pumping it had no effect so the rear brake just about saved a trip into the kitty litter. Turns out the pads ...
Just like Suzuki's GSXR 1000, the R1's standard front brake has known fade issues when pushed hard i.e. on track. Fade was sorted with braided hoses and race fluid. However, the heavy braking around BHGP circuit and sintered pads (with one third thickness remaining) transferred too much heat through the backing plate & pistons causing the race fluid to boil. Unless you're a MotoGP or F1 team with temperature data sensors in your brakes, you get no fade or other warning that the race fluid is about to turn to gas. My R1 now has Carbone Lorraine pads (lower heat transfer) and top spec Brembo fluid which is how Guy Martin's race team cured the GSXR 1000's well known front brake issues. The problem became such bad PR for Suzuki that they fitted Brembo front brakes as standard to the 2012 GSXR - maybe Yamaha should go the same way! So don't worry mavrik11964, the front brake has since performed well around Cadwell & Oulton and you'll be quite safe around BH Indy circuit which is a good one to hone your track skills.

BMW 650i with moderate brake dust, not maintained - POLY'S DETAILING FLUID XL
Spray with Poly's Detailing Fluid XL, wipe with microfiber towel. Now doesn't that look a lot easier?
Apply a high quality (Jetseal 109, High Temperature Sealant) paint sealant,
and maintain wheels with a neutral pH solution, preferably a waterless wash
product. When you need to glean the barrels of the rims, use a tool such as
a Daytona Wheel Brush available at Autogeek.net

The car is pretty good and I just need to stop making little mistakes so
there's less corrections. I also felt far more comfortable in the setup to
push myself harder. There's definitely more time in the car, some tire
pressure changes and driver changes and a 2:04 to maybe high 2:03 is
possible.
