Hmmm, Do I buy the Crossover or the Seydal steel favorite. Please help.
I've been using Special Twenty for blues, only been playing for two months
but doing solo well:) Your videos are brilliant and soooo much appreciated.
John:)
That's like asking me to choose which of my children I love the most! They are both good, the Crossover is higher quality...but I'm a plastic comb guy and the Crossover is bamboo. Have you heard of the Hohner Rocket? Check out my website to learn more about it //www.jakeknowsharmonica.com/rocket
That's awesome! I don't think I'd ever put anything in my mouth that was on my sister's floor. Glad you got hooked on the Crossover though...it's a great harp.
For the beginners watching this, you can buy one of these for 60 and have a
single key to play in. But for the same price, you can get two special 20's
of different keys and have a larger variety of songs to play and sounds you
can make. If money isnt that big of a deal, buy one of these. If money
matters, you should probably plan to buy a G also for around the same
price. Anyone correct me if I am wrong. I didn't think of this through when
I bought my first. Im still a beginner though.
+Manny Garcia I still think the marine band is a great beginner harp for the right student, despite all their problems (swelling combs, inconsistency, sharp edges and lack of screws). In terms of the raw sound (and to be honest, also the aesthetics), the marine band beats other harps in that price bracket. But it's so subjective, such a matter of opinion. The special 20 does have a lot of advantages, I just love the marine band sound. For some students, the potential frustration of the old school instrument can be off-putting. For others though, it's part of the process to have to "work with" their instrument, and you get payback with the meatier sound. But, if someone recommends a special 20 over a marine band, I can totally see why there are a lot of good arguments for that. And hell, sound preference is such a subjective thing anyway, I'm heavily biased. If I didn't know the person, I'd recommend a 1 marine band and 1 20 in A and C (either way) and enjoy the difference.
+Jake KnowsHarmonica I started playing the Harmonica 3 weeks ago. So far I have bought a Lee Oskar, a marine band, and a special 20. All in the key of C. I'm just testing them to see what sounds I like. So far, I really like the marine band. The Lee Oskar is really nice as well, but I think the comb is weird. I love the special 20, it has a great sound, but I love the tone of the marine band. I just don't like the maintenance on the marine band, I feel like it gets dirty really quick.
That is a pretty spot on assessment. Assuming that money is a problem...it is way more economical to get a couple of Special 20 harps. If money is not a problem...what I recommend is buying one of each in the same key. Find out which harp is right for you. Every harp player has a different mouth and different ears...so different harps feel and sound different to everyone. Just my two cents.

Most of Monsanto's poisonous products are used to produce fodder for farmed animals. It takes some 16-pounds of plants fed to an cow in order to produce just a pound of meat. Think about that.
+Ersatz Mode We kill deer with our cars and many are also used for hide. If we didn't eat the cattle they would still die from being torn apart from coyote or wolves. Is that what you want? Watch the videos of coyote talking down deer. You meanie.
+U.P. dan, you are wrong. Animals are killed often specifically for the leather trade. Watch the documentary "Earthlings" for more on it. Furthermore, leather is a product just as any product from the animal. The sale of leather significantly contributes to making animal farming economically viable. If you buy leather you have blood on your hands. Go vegan and live cruelty-free.
Got the Twin Air Cross myself, very happy with it. But I would prefer
better cupholders and more storage options inside the cabin. Also I think
the fuel economy is not that great for a two sylinder engine and a 1080kg
heavy car. Can't wait to test it in the snow!
