+DoctaM3 I belive that a sports car is a car that was only 2 doors, a very fast engine, premium leather and Bose or better sound system, and a car that raises your insurance bill :-P So, the 2014 C7 Corvette Stingray is definitely a American sports car. The look, the engine, the exhaust system.

+DoctaM3Well your Aventador is a supercar, that's for sure. But is your M6 a supercar? No, it isn't. I think it's all about whether or not the car considered to be a supercar is built on a platform of non-supercars. The ZR1 is phenomenal, but it's a Corvette that shares the platform of a base $50k Corvette. The M6 is on the platform that builds the 640i.Your Aventador is a $500k Lamborghini, lol. That's a super car because its platform is unique. The Ford GT and SRT Viper are supercars because they're their own platform.

I am in this way of thinking too. The new Corvette is amazing but is it a supercar? I think the ZR1 variant or Z06 may qualify but I guess it begs the question, "What makes a super ar, a supercar?"

Base price in the United States on the C7 Corvette is $51,995 for 1LT and goes from there.

No doubt it has a dramatic look and design (albeit borrowed). Nothing limited about the production numbers though-they will be everywhere!  Performance is top notch too... so supercar?

Its also a really bad, and not very well thought car. I mean when you drive at high speed the seats get hot because the exhaust pipes is underneath it.

I agree although at its price point the base units will probably sell more cars than the Viper which surprisingly aren't selling very well at all.

You make a good point. I am not sure the base Stingray will cut it though, maybe the special edition variants of the Corvette will.
