The Smoking Tire road trip - Behind The Scenes with Drive's Matt Farah
TJ Hunt and I went on a road trip to Malibu so Matt Farah could drive TJ's Subaru BRZ for The Smoking Tire. The BRZ is fitted with Delicious Tuning's Flex Fuel ...
Thanks man ! I also have one more question if you don't mind. I haven't gotten and answer from anyone yet , but can you put an exhaust on any kind of car ?

+Kevien Kim Their off the shelf maps will only run on their aftermarket injectors. Now you could tune this for the stock injectors, but it would be ideal to go with larger injectors as E-85 requires much more fuel to make the same amount of power, so larger injectors would be ideal. Thanks,Rick
my bad, just read from them that they don't have plans for a complete kit like this for the Evo. but hey might be wrong i don't own one so wouldn't get into it.
+BasicWRX You might want to check your sources. Cobb actual is doing this for the EVO. Seeing as how they have my built EVO waiting to be picked up in a few and I was advised to wait on getting the e85 tune until this comes out for the car seems you might not know what you are referring to. Just saying....
+Gregory G I don't think it's absolutely necessary, but nice to know and can help if the sensor dies. That would be very very bad. Not 100% needed, but for peace of mind get one with a gauge.
Robbie McQueen from Wolf Motorsport shows us the pros and cons of using an ethanol flex fuel sensor to tune your car. [ //www.wolfmotorsport.com.au ] ...
What you're demonstrating is more a limitation of the zetronics unit.
The ethanol sensor outputs 150hz signal when it displays 100% ethanol. When
it has water contamination. The flex sensor outputs 170hz, the zetronics
obviously has no way of displaying that so the display remains pegged at
100% ethanol.
Sure. A lot of people use the zetronics unit as a analog output to their
ecu and cause the exact problem you're demonstrating.
But there is alternative units that don't have this short fall!
+headsex Yeah, I'd love to see a test done like that to see which company's gear works the best. I want to know before I go and upgrade to a better ECU myself. My Microtech LT-10 HAS to go ;) Interesting looking at the hydrous ethanol testing. Seems a little bit of water in your ethanol is a good thing! LOL ;)
+Daniel Brealey Correct.. in saying that, various Aftermarket ECU's support directed Flex sensors now, where they read the Ethanol and fuel temperature directly.. It would be MORE interesting to see WHICH aftermarket company handles this water contamination and which dont.... My guess is that none of them do, and Peg out at 100% ethanol for anything more than 150hz output as per this display
+headsex That's even MORE interesting! So this unit can't read anything above 150Hz from the sensor, that's a bit shit when the sensor can send a higher frequency to diagnose the problem before you peg it and shit your motor... Thanks for the input.
+RGHTBrainDesign who? what is? "water separation filter (like a diesel would)" that type of water trap is not going to take water out of e85! e85 and water mix! ULP and water do not mix! diesel and water do not mix! its simple water gets mixed into all fuels the difference is e85 and cant be separated easily unlike diesel or ulp
+gremlinkiller I'm pretty sure that's the whole point of this filter is to reduce water content in e85 while also filtering down to 3-4 Micron. They are the best on the market, hands down.
+RGHTBrainDesign a water trap like a diesel fuel car will not work on e85 as e85 and water will mix vs diesel and water separate try it for ur self get some contaors add water to both diesel and to e85 you will see the diffrence
I don't think there is another way at this point. My solution lies further up the system by using a water separation filter (like a diesel would) to "clean up" my e85 solution. This is all theory though, and it might not work as intended. The car is still in pieces...
+RGHTBrainDesign Yeah, that's what I thought too! So what's the answer then? A better flex fuel unit that can read the sensor better or use a ethanol content sensor instead???

+Paul Leason Yet again, why is a sexual orientation define my taste for cars. You may believe I'm gay (which I'm not) but I believe you are pretty stupid.
We have installed about 10 kits to date, utilizing both the innovate supplied Engine Mapping and Custom Dyno Tunes. We have no experience with knock. Where did you hear this? What type of "knock" are you referring to?
Subaru STi power MY10 flex fuel e 85 cosworth and much more....
I'm the owner of the car... bloody awesome. drove it home to Melbourne last
night and it felt perfect. Subaru STI's should drive / feel this way.
Thank-you to the MRT team for prioritizing my work,
A few early comments, for mileage purposes I filled up with 98ron on the
way home and noticed a definite improvement in performance. turbo lag was
reduced, the whole "power" package felt a hell of a lot more sharper than
before.
Running on E85 out of Sydney...WOW it's fun and fast! (I'm filling up with
E85 now and will report back later).
This is my everyday drive so it's imperative that it's as much fun to drive
on an open road as it is in a busy Melbourne street. I'll provide more
updates when I've had a week of two with the car.
You can and i have a two-piece rear alloy set-up. Girodisc which does a lot
of STi's, EVO's, and a bunch of exotic cars does them, check out the site.
Great video
