Someone mentioned below using rubber mats. Does road salt stain rubber mats? If so how to remove from them? Same method as fabric mats? Also is the vinegar necessary? Can't you use an all purpose cleaner/fabric cleaner to remove the salt? Thanks

Nice! I would also suggest Weather Tech floor mats for winter driving!
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
If you can buy a set of WeatherTech fitted mats for your car that would be great. However they're not available for every model vehicle. I own a North Anerican manufacturen suv that had a production run of +500,000 units with no significant front floor changes, but Weathertech doesn't regard it as worthwhile to make fitted mats for it. The vehicle manufacturers overpriced all weathererther mats don't fit as snuggly like Weathertech mats would. If you use generic rubber floor mats, invariably there will be salt residue around the borders of those mats.

+AMMO NYC I'm in the Northern "state" from you lol Ontairo we don't get as much salt as we use to sand mostly due to the colder temps salt doesnt work ..However I take my Mats out at the car wash ..Not just any car wash It uses Hot water, Under car spray rail, and a setting for salt removal (PH balanced soap/water) I power wash my mats and use there Shampooer/vaccum Another winter trick Is to Crank the heat on to the floor in the car and crack the window 1" open to let any extra moisture escape out ..

Harsh criticism from the other guy; if your tensioning strip is in good condition at the edges of the plates, and you use the correct adhesive, the new tensioner will serve to reinforce the old one! I think this video is extremely helpful. Besides walking through installation step by step, it provides some of the really important insight (despite being in French) that you don't get when you try to work this all out yourself, like how to tension each layer. A little more use of the zoom would have been nice, but I for one can't thank these guys enough for sharing this knowledge!!!
