+Zabora Maloni Well this video is about rats, so naturally, we're assuming the main focus here is rats. I see no consensus that mesh wheels are inherently bad, and I have done research.
+DarkBraelyn that still doesn't negate about how mesh wheels injure rodents which was my original statement. If you care to take the time and search I'm sure you would find more. But if you want to be stupid after multiple people have warned against them then by all means, continue to abuse them.
+Zabora Maloni Gerbils are much smaller than rats, it's more believable that they could get injured due to easily being able to slip through the holes. Second link is no more reliable than your own personal account since it's just someone else's personal account. I used to go on that forum a lot and the for-and-against community for mesh wheels is divided with more people generally saying mesh is fine and bar wheels are the problem.
//m.petmd.com/exotic/conditions/musculoskeletal/c_ex_gb_fractures this one is about gerbils//www.goosemoose.com/rfc/index.php?topic=4036129.10;wap2And this is rats. It took a total of 3 seconds to find these.
+DarkBraelyn you can be as cynical as you like about their health and safety. It doesn't change the fact that mesh wheels have caused injury to rats, hamsters, gerbils and a score of other rodents.
+DarkBraelyn I've seen mesh wheels break feet before. I've seen nails ripped off from being caught. If you want to take that change fine. But I love my rats and won't buy a mesh wheel. Just like I wouldn't give a baby lead based paint.
+Zabora Maloni Mesh wheels almost never have complications, the problem wheels are bar wheels without mesh. That's what limbs and tails can get stuck in.
