I would love to see a video of the inner workings of the drivers cab, eg
you working the throttle and brake etc and I always wondered how you work
the announcements
Very much enjoyed your cab rides! A quick question from a pommy railway
employee. Does every driver sign all the routes in Melbourne + the various
traction or just certain lines and train types? Also do the Metro Drivers
also cover Vline services or do they have their own drivers? Cheers!!
+aussiesparkdriver Thanks for the the detailed reply! Always interesting to see how the system runs, I enjoyed my rides out to Craigyburn and down to Frankston while I was over visiting, they just thought we were mad going out these so called "dangerous" places?! My cousin works for the Victoria State Police so I guess his fears are from his work, He almost arranged us a trip to Metrol but they were supposedly announcing redundancies on the day of our visit unfortunately! Typical ay; I guess you are never short of working overtime or Rest days if you sign everywhere, you'll have the new guys jealous!!
I'll break this down into a few parts,The current training scheme is marketed as a '38 week' course, which entails trainees learning one half of the network, usually the Northern and Caulfield groups which have Comeng and Siemens trains, the Siemens are restricted to these lines, whereas the Comengs can travel system wide.I'm from the 73 week course days where all the class learnt system wide and could drive every spark.I believe our current class of trainees are learning the opposite side, the Burnley and Clifton Hill groups, which are X'Trapolis and Comeng only.Metro and V/Line are completely different companies with different staff at the moment, although, rumoured to be a one operator system soon.
Lovely, just a few questions.
1. Could you do these views a little more often?
2. Do Out of Service trains run on the Upfield line?
3, What are the wages that train drivers get?
And Great video!

+elmin2323 but you can't break into a cockpit. You can't compare a plane to a train. If vandals did to planes what they did to our trains they would be in jail for quite a while.
Lol true Look at flight simulators all the manuals are online! I just love trains and would love to read the systems manual on how a old hitachi works!
+elmin2323 Well yes it is. There's quite a few stolen drivers keys circulating around, even advertised on the internet as for sale, a video documenting how to steal a train is definitely a great ideal...
great video im hopeing on becoming a metro driver i could see its a comeng
not sure if its a EDI or Alstom plus im only 8 pretty darn crazy any way
great vids
Hey Spark just wondering if you could take us through what happens when you
first get on the train to start your shift (preferably the x trap) and show
us how the train is started what all the buttons and levers do I'm really
interested in the train network and I know how to operate like Moscow
subway trains from simulators but am hanging to see how the x trap
operated, cheers mate.
Not going to happen what so ever. That's a huge security risk.
