If I remember, I think I was running a really aggressive setup that night. Old Pro-S 12kg/mm coilovers in front, 14kg/mm rear, 22mm rear sway bar, maybe -2 or -3 camber. and possibly no front sway bar. Haha!
I appreciate the sympathy! My life has been pretty busy the last year as I've been trying to dial in my career and living situation but I'm in a good place now. I might try to hit up some tracks in the future if I can figure out how you even gain access to a track in America...
Man, good getting away on this one..barely haha. I recently got an FA5, and
one thing I've noticed is that it kind of forces me further away from the
steering wheel than I like, so my arms feel like they are stretched out a
little too far. What is your seating position like?
+loveskating3 Man I haven't driven a cable throttle in a long time. You get used to the wire throttle. Its really smooth and you have really sharp throttle control when the damping and overrun fuel cut delay are removed in flashpro.
+CasterTown Ya, I basically just decided to go about a click closer than my legs would like, so I can get the arm control. It's not too terrible. A bucket would be pretty nice I think. My main goal now is to make the throttle pedal feel more like a cable throttle. I feel like I am constantly holding my foot up.
I know the feeling. Sometime's I'll slide the seat a click or two closer if I feel like I need more control, but if you're tall then your legs will be stuffed under there pretty good. I want to get buckets for this thing though. That will definitely help. More upright and lower.
engine braking and no throttle going into the slalom had the weight
transfer to the front, causing the initial oversteer, not reacting quickly
enough by shifting weight back - throttle application probably contributed
to the snap oversteer. should have put power down as soon as the back
started to slide out and apply a little less countersteer until the car
comes back into balance.
I think this pretty well defines what us foxbody owners know as snap oversteer at about 85-90mph...Hopefully the new 3 link Maximum Motorsports Setup will ...
I have to show the good and bad runs! We all push to hard at times. Here is what happens when you do so on cold tires and the first run. Rally mode ENGAGED!
It was about a 7pm run. And the primary reason i spun, is because the
tires had cooled down from the break since this was the 1st run of the 2nd
heat and the grip was not there.
thats not really snap oversteer, thats just carrying too much speed into
the next turn
MR2 snap oversteer
The perils of MR2 ownership...about as predictable as a woman's mood!...yet I keep coming back for more ...over-corrected snap oversteer off the Kirwan ...
What rear tires are you running??
Rear tires are most likely the culprit since you weren't going fast at all.
I've had this happen to me in the wet and it was the rears. I got some rain
tires that can dissapate a lot of water (deep central grooves) and that
pretty much solved it. Trust me, some good tires will eliminate that. are
you on stock suspension still??
+eiredriving oh wow, I def thought it was turbo. The way it stepped out I thought it was low down torque from the turbo. Yeah, just drive careful when it's wet like that I guess then. Or practice the oversteer so you'll be comfortable when it happens next time and won't over-correct. as you know you have to be fast with the counter steer and the wind off aswell in these mid-engine cars., otherwise a tank-slapper is gonna happen. In your case you weren't carrying much speed for it to become a tank-slapper. But think if it's was a one lane road. You'd be f*cked. Drive safely! check out my "react' video. tricky cars to master, but very satisfying to drive!
+youngweezy11 Thanks its an NA Rev5 - Its a standard fir for the MR2 realistically unless you want to spend big money its either the Falkens or the Toyo T1-Rs for the stock rears - its very good have the car 4 years now and probably have 1 - 2 unexpected oversteer moments a year
+eiredriving ahh if it's known to be slippery there then it's different. It looked very much like when I ran winter tires in the rain. The car would just sliding without any warning or upset. How is your traction going in a straight line with those in the rain? most of the time tires that are suited for trackdays do not do well in the rain.Congratz on the Rev 5! I imported my rev 4 turbo from japan. rev 5's were too pricey at the time. Lovely car in every way.
+youngweezy11 Falken Ze912 225/50/15 - on my second pair only 3 months old - last pair did 24k mls and had a handful of kickouts, find them very good and done a track day with them, I'm told that roundabout is very slippy and cars are known to kick out there.
