that popping you hear is the exhaust coming out of the intake. if you pull
the lid off the air box you would clearly hear the popping (sign of a warn
cam shaft)
How many miles did you have at that time? Thanks!
Audi A3 running rough
Audi A3 ticking over.so far i have change MAF sensor, coil leads new spark plugs cranck sensor cam sensor new air filter, and it is still doing the same.the car ...
Simple problem...... Here's what you should do..... while your car is
running disconnect the MAF sensor and see what will happen.... the rpm
should go up and go back ..... if nothing happen... locate the ECU unplug
it for 10 minutes ( make sure you remove the negative battery terminal)
then start your car .... if the problem persist.... remove the air filter
box and start the car .... let me know ....if any of these work....
I had the same problem took me ages to figure it out. Your carb is
sticking. What you need to do is clean the carburetor ( Get it from
halfords, about 6 quid ) Worked on mine and only took about 20 mins!
I have two audi,s a 2005 A3 3.2 and a 1995 2.6 cabrio both v6, the old one
runs better, fsi engines are not reliable, the a3 3.2 is just grief. No
more audi,s for me
you say on craigslist that t-belt tensioner was replaced...how about t-belt
itself? did anyone mess with cam chains or replace cam chains, tensioners,
or oil seals and gaskets related to the cam chain tensioners? are the
cylinders that are experiencing misfires on the same cylinder bank? i have
experience with the 4 cylinder audi engines only, but i would concentrate
on maybe a bad cam adjuster (tensioner), a worn t-belt that may have
skipped a tooth, an improperly installed t-belt tensioner, and maybe even
coil packs, spark plugs and the ignition harnass itself.
