Zez Confrey - Kitten on the Keys (audio + sheet music)
Besides the composer's 1923 ragtime piece "Dizzy Fingers", this 1921 ragtime piece is Zez Confrey's biggest ragtime seller. According to Wikipedia, "this piece ...
+AlexJamesGTV Yeh, It's fine playing, but it verges on the brink of just being a rush of notes going by. Now, I'm not saying that if I could play it this fast, I wouldn't likewise show off, but I don't think it adds to the piece.Faster ain't better. Music ain't no race.
12th Street Rag by Euday L. Bowman ~ Aaron Robinson, piano
What can be done with just a 3-note variation rag? Just listen and see how world renowned Ragtime pianist, Aaron Robinson, bridges the gap between the late ...
I love it. Your version sounds a lot like the orginal 12th Street Rag. The
orginal rag has full chords instead of the 3-note's like this version. If i
am correct this is the easy-version later written by the same composer. In
your version you do play the full chords, i love it! Especially the final
section sounds great and is very hard to play with full chords.
There were several versions, and it ended up as a relatively easy "C" rag (with lyrics) by about 1919, maybe to capture wider sales as the ragtime era gave way to the prohibition jazz party . This seemed to have worked, as it stayed a popular number for many decades. I agree that the full chord B - E flat version is the best, though quite demanding to play.
Right on, Anne !! You clearly have xlnt taste !! Ragtime at its best !!
Temptation Rag played by Tom Brier

So, did Sen. Henry (Cabot) Lodge (who led the Senate opposition to the
Treaty of Versailles) compose rags in his spare time?...or are the names
simply coincidental?
Why does everyone seem to dress like a stereotype gangster when they play
ragtime though? The period it was popular they would have dressed a lot
more like the late 1800s and early 1900s. Not 1920s.
hate the cheap YouTube technique of putting up the name of a star player
who has nothing to do with the video other than the tune title played by
the unknown and sometimes incompetent player in the video. In this case you
are VERY competent, but nevertheless a cheat.
+Lu Ja I remain unconvinced...Regiments of Ragtime pianists have played their own versions of it..He's a great player but used her name to attract the attention he wouldn'thave got otherwise.Regards..M.O.L.
+Lawrence Phelps Do you have a pill which would make me understand why you cheated me into thinking I was going to find Winnie Atwell? She didn't write it and she certainly wasn't the only one to play/record it, so why would you use her name on your video? Its seems that we've answered that, already!I'll keep searching for that pill.In turn, I greatly admire your piano playing which needs no subterfuge to stand on its own.
+Тамара Степанова. You obviously want Bobby Crush. As well as smiling, would you like him to quote Hamlet's Speech, balance a spinning plate on the back of his neck and do an impersonation Angela Merkel, whilst cracking walnuts with his left foot and doing Keepy Uppies with his right!Pratt.
