3 Dudes play in N. Charleston on St. Patricks Day 2012
The 3 Dudes is a band I saw at Park Circle in North Charleston on St. Patricks Day 2012. They own the rights to their music, but I did want to spread the word.
Top 3: Alex & Sierra Sing "Bleeding Love" with Leona Lewis - THE X FACTOR USA 2013
For their celebrity duet performance, Alex & Sierra teamed up with none other than Leona Lewis for her smash hit, "Bleeding Love." Would Alex & Sierra follow in ...
Leona doesnt need to prove herself anymore :P She's the queen of singing
this song, she probably done it more then a hundred times live all over the
world and on the radio etc... She's basically taking a step back and
letting these two shine because it is THEIR moment and she's not a diva
(although if she wanted to, she can easily outpower them)...
+Victor Boylan Uhhh...Wesley Yeung meant that Leona Lewis doesn't have to prove herself in reference to her singing "Bleeding Love," which is absolutely true. However, let's pretend that we were talking about Leona Lewis and your standards of what it means to prove oneself. In that instance, it would be impossible for Leona Lewis to garner the reputation of having proven herself, simply due to the fact that when compared to the other singers you listed, she is nowhere near their ages. Longevity in the music industry, although an important factor in determining success, is not and should not be the only factor used to measure how much of an icon an artist is. The standards used to determine what it means to be an icon and not have to prove oneself any longer in the music industry are standards that are subjectively defined. According to your standards, a music icon is an individual who has been in the business for years on end and was able to sustain their vocal ability through it all. To me, however, a music icon is an individual who not only has obvious talent and beauty, but one who's able to create material true to themself and doesn't have to conform their morale and dignity to fit the standards of success the majority has. To me, Leona Lewis is the epitome of what an icon is and has proven herself beyond what is possible. Leona Lewis has garnered the recognition and attention of being truly talented and beautiful from people that even you may view as iconic and having already proven themself. You may not agree, but Leona Lewis is just as amazing as women such as Mariah Carey and Céline Dion.
WHAT? 'She doesn't need to prove herself'??? She released like what one or two albums?? And that was like 7 years ago..... She hasn't done much in between.. You've got to have a legacy before one can say that an artist doesn't have to prove themselves anymore. You know who doesn't have to prove themselves anymore; Madonna, Celine Dion, Cher, Mariah Carey, Aretha Franklin.. Those are the artist who no longer have to prove themselves because they've spent 20+ years performing, some even as far as 50 years! Have a great voice and having a couple hit singles doesn't make you an icon, doing that for over 25 years and being able to vocally keep up is what makes you an icon. Leona had a good 15 minutes but vocally I'd like to see more before she can be vetted as a star and no longer has to prove herself.
