almost anything may come . .
the breathing was intense, yet that's the most important part in all
exercises. do you need to be a gym weight lifting junkie to do this easier
or you can learn gradually from scratch?
Hi Esther, I have a question, and will ask it in dutch, because it's more
easy for me to explain.
Great explanation of shoulder position! I have looked for a video produced
by you that addresses how to distribute the weight in your hands. I
injuried both wrists some time ago due to not spreading my hands as
suggested by so many yoga instructors. One wrist is completely healed. Can
someone direct to one of her videos that specifically addresses position of
palm of hands and fingers?
Thank you so much for this video!!!!! I've been using apps on my iPhone for
yoga and they always have Chatarunga pose. I'm just starting and have no
upper body strength, so I just ended up not doing the pose. Thanks to your
video I can now attempt this pose with your beginner modification. This is
really going to help me tremendously.
Hi Esther! thank you for all your videos, it really help me! I want to ask
you something regarding this video. Is it best to do it before breakfast?
My problem is that if I don't eat or drink something and do this type of
exercises, I get dizzy a lot. What do you recommend me? Thank you in
advance! Regards from Argentina!
Esther - this was really helpful. I was not moving my wieght forward. I'm
doing P90X and was not at all feeling comfortable with chataranga. Thanks
for the great breakdown of stomach in, shoulders back, move weight forward,
then go down. Very helpful!
Hi, You can eat something first. Just wait a little while after eating,
especially if you ate a lot, before practicing. You don't need to practice
before breakfast, just not right after food. Hope this helps :-)
What do you guys think about 16 stretches holding each for 1 minute each?
I'm trying to get more flexible for martial arts most of these are leg and
hip stretches do you think I'm doing it long enough?
Thanks Esther. It's very helpful to see Chaturanga in slow motion and to
learn how to place your shoulders correctly. This is quite a tough move for
a begginer, so it was most useful, thanks!
thank u so much Esther...finally I found a teacher who understands how hard
it is to start...u have shown options and progressions for beginners like
me.
Strength in Yoga, Flow from Chaturanga into Updog with Kino
If you're looking for yoga videos that will show you the perfect way for you to start your yoga journey then Kino MacGregor's yoga channel is perfect for you!
The forward shift should actually happen BEFORE you descend into
chaturanga. This insures that your joints (elbows and wrists) stay stacked,
and therefore supported, when you lower down. Your arms should end up at a
90 degree angle. When you've lowered down to 90 degrees, you need only
press up and you're in an upward dog. Your strength and ability are still
impressive but this one is important as you don't want to 'dump' into any
of your joints! :-)
Thank you, I'll be looking for both your line and the other one. Since they
take a lot of time ~ 3weeks to arrive to my country, I'll have to order
them once I get back from my 1st TTC ;) in India. and thanks for all your
work here with the videos, I watch each one and share them to the trainers
i attend..
Hi Kino
can you talk a bit more about what is going on with foot control as you
roll over the toes. Are they just relaxed or are there points of tensing
and relaxing the feet?
I have watched several videos looking for the answer to this question, but
so far no one is talking about this point
Namaste :-)
I have problems with this transition move with the toes...seems I have my
third and second toes larger than the first therefore all the weight or
load resides or lies on these two when trying to roll them from being in
downward facing dog to cobra (snake)
can you recommend anything to help me build up strength in my arms and
core, because i have can't support myself in chaturanga at all. i just flop
down from plank, more or less. thank you!
hola mamacita!!beautiful legs ,! nice body!! subscribed thanks for
sharingg the videos !how many min should i practice and how many days??
today is my first day!! ty!!
Well I have a line of yoga mats that I would obviously recommend which you
can find on my site, but you can also get the Manduka black mat as it is
unbreakable.
this is very helpful. i like a continuous flow when doing sun salutations.

Yoga Poses: Chaturanga and Up Dog
//www.EkhartYoga.com Learn about these yoga poses through a 4 minute tutorial. Esther cover Chaturanga Dandasana (also called Four limbed staff pose) ...
@meowwwweo you need to do more poses to gently stretch the calves and the
hamstrings. Don't forget it's ok to bend the knees to bend over. Make sure
you're really warmed up. Down dog is good for calves, seated forward bend
with a belt or strong scarf around the ball of the feet to pull them
towards you or stand with your heels off a step. Go on your tiptoes, then
slowly drop your heels below the level of the step, hold for a few breaths
about ten times, till there's pressure, not pain
I have been doing my yoga using a wall. I would like to see a video of
poses that you can do against a wall. laying down with feet up and bum
against the wall and sitting with back against the wall. At my level I am
finding they both stretch and strengthen (isometrics). I have a limited
space 2m x 2m Stretched out i am 2.5m so i have found using a wall lets me
do yoga in a small space and use gravity better . Thank You Ester
thank you for the alternatives !! I want to do yoga but need to start with
progressive poses. please do more of this type of video :) In addition, i
would love if you could explain the special uses/purpose of the position-
otherwise perfect video !! Very helpful. I need easy beginning poses as I'm
sure many others do also. There are a lot of videos for more advanced yoga,
but not as much for modified yoga or beginning yoga.
@meowwwweo You got some great advice already :-) I totally agree with
what's been said. I practiced for years as well to be where I am now. And
its about the stretch, not the "end pose" The stretch and the road to the
pose is what is going to give you the many benefits of yoga ♥ Please don't
push and hurt yourself, your body responds better and will get more
flexible quicker if you respect the boundaries...
@meowwwweo Yoga isn't about competing with others (especially the
teacher!). Everyone has their limit, the more you do it the better you will
be. Just think about all the baseball players, they weren't smashing home
runs their first week at bat.
Another great demonstration, thanks Ester. You model and explain answers to
questions I didn't even know I had until I see your video's! Keep up the
fantastic instruction, and thanks.

I appreciate your knowledge of yoga and fitness, I would like to take more
of your videos, but I can't because you say so terribly quickly that it
unbearable for me, sorry! but everything else is great, well done !! and
good luck!
Thank you, Kino! This is an excellent practice to build my strength. I
didn't know the high plank you mentioned here, and this is a nice challenge
for me!
