+Car Nut doubt they'll feel like a large v8 engine, you shift them at 2000 rpm and that will get you in front of traffic without trying, N/a as well. especially in a large 1750kg vehicle. Can hit full boost at 3k RPM in my WRX, there is a lot of torque that comes in at 2500 and by 4000 you have full acceleration available, the torque is nothing compared to the v8.The SS 6L has so much thrust at low rpms and once you hit 4k rpm it's full acceleration is available.Go drive a manual one you'll see what I'm saying, even being a heavy vehicle and having low gears it's amazing how punchy it is. if you looked at dyno numbers for holdens you'd think it isn't special and guttless at low rpm.
+Jared Tate Sti's and Evos don't but the AMG does, comes on boost at 2 grand but still has an extra shove all the way up at 6k. Very well engineered engine. Checkout the dyno graph power curve - //mbworld.org/forums/cla45-amg-c117/548404-weistec-engineering-released-cla45-a45-downpipe-midpipe.html
+Car Nut 265kw vs 197kw lol the merc has dual clutch too & awd the merc is one of the fastest cars at the lights will smoke bmw m3s as well hahthe merc comes with a 3 inch exhaust stock basically, air to water intercooler and a bunch of other things. runs 26 psi stock !
+Heletuusi A45 has mega power all the way throughout the rev range from a single turbo 2.0L, they've just upped the power too from 265kw > 280kw. Subaru looks weak in comparison.
Bigger engine means better chassis thus more weight and it would take too much work to prep a car like this for the same production price... instead, they should work on two turbos instead of one... I recon the trim which is on stock cars isn't that big but a twin turboed 2,0l engine could be nice and bring more torque on mid and high-end rpm
Rubbish, what a bias argument. A dsg transmission would transform the acceleration of this WRX. A cvt is not comparable to a dsg in any measure. I disagree with the 'fun' factor being reduced with when going from a manual to a proper dsg or auto. It works for so many other manufacturers so why not Subaru? It wouldn't wreck the weight distribution, and it wouldn't increase the price by 4k. Reliability issues can be eliminated today, look a Porsche with their PDK transmissions. The nature of the WRX's engine would suit a dsg transmission extremely well, instant shifts gives no time for the boost to drop.I don't know whether a larger engine would fit or not. Is all I know is mcm fitted a 3.6L H6 in an old Liberty, people put LS motors in MX-5 and so on. I think it would be possible to fit a 3L H6 to the WRX or STI. Or even just develop the motor it has not to something more up with the time, 195kw is poor these days. I'd expect at least 220kw for the wrx and upwards of 270kw for the STi.
Are you serious Maad?? Sorry, Adding a DSG gearbox is a ridiculous idea! That would increase the weight, thus, making the car slower, ruin the 50/50 weight distribution and make the car less fun to drive overall, as well as more expensive to buy, maintain and would provide the driver with less of a PROPER driving experience IMO.The CVT Auto Subaru sell in this video is an option as a "token gesture" only. No body wants to pay 3-4K more for a slower, heavier CVT let alone an even HEAVIER DSG!90% of sales will be manual with good reason. They are simply more fun to drive and more engaging and take more skill. Besides if something goes wrong with your DSG box you're up for MEGA bucks! What works for VW does not work for every manufacturer.PS: Bigger engine? You mean like a 2.5T like mine??Didn't make any difference at all as you can see from the comparative power figures.A engine bigger than a 2.5T would not fit in that engine bay that is already crammed at 2.5L.
