Do you know what democracy even means? Sorry but here in our place we don't have books authored by Russians because I live in a country that is "al-LIE-d" with America. Debates are not just supported by mere facts but it should be from a unbiased point where the debater KNOWS both sides of the issue. And I MEAN BOTH SIDES. I live in country that has been "friends" with the US for as long as we can remember and I have studied other states that the US has close relations to. Know both sides first.

Washington-approved countries? Please provide examples and evidence for your theories. Otherwise, they will remain as such. Just theories. Here are some facts: Russia recently created a commission against falsifying history. This is a classic case of KGB "pravda" vs the undisputed truth. They need to protect their own interpretation of history to legitimize their dominance of non-ethnic Russians in the near-abroad and white-washing of Soviet-era atrocities. That is a crime everyone recognizes.

i think its just in 89 cold war anti-russian propaganda was still in effect, u were receiving falls info from news channels. There was 15 republics that formed USSR. All of them were granted independence. Chechnya was always part of Rus. So if u have bunch of rebels running with guns killing civilians, trying to break off a chunk of territory, doesn't mean they should have it. Lets say tomorrow Hawaiians say "independence!" 30 min later you'll have f-22s building new democracy democracy there

At least we can prove that people voted for the current candidate with REAL evidence, not like in Russia and Belarus- oops the ballot box fell in a bonfire and all of the ballots were destroyed, but trust us, this guys is the winner. We had that happen once in Bush v Gore, but it was blamed on an antiquated vote-count system and an aging electorate in Florida. At least in Washington, your seat is not guaranteed and you are not criminally immune from prosecution. Moscow's judiciary is a joke.

1- i'm in armenia, i don't even have a border with russia. 2- i didn't say i supported the 'rebel's in chechnya, but i must point out that in 1989 chechens were not radical terrorists, or islamic at all (most were atheist after 70 years of soviet communism)- but like all nations of the former USSR, they wanted independence, and russia crushed them for it, the few survivors later got weapons from saudi arabia, and were radicalised islamists. and then russia claims 'independence' for abkhazia

Chechens are not terrorists and suggestign that is not right, the terrorists are those who hide in the Caucasan mountains and forests and carry out acts of terror in Chechnya and the rest of Russia. I understand how everything happened there, but you must understand what it would have meant for Russia to release Chechnya. As for the Russian actions in Georgia and the two republics, I think they were the right actions, Georgia waged war and killed Russian people and soldiers, peacekeepers!

Georgian-Abkhazian conflict has't started only in 1990 but much more late since 1921 when Georgia declared its Independence, since that day Russia tried to burn off big ,,dilema Unfortunately still in 21st century we see same attitude from Russia, but they should have think about further consequences as such action returns them as boomerang, see current situation in northern Caucasus and it is just beginning most interesting things are ahead. I guess you don't know what imperialism in modern times mean. WHEN I SAID "IMPERIALIST" I DIDN'T MEAN THAT THE US HAS COLONIES OR EVEN AN EMPEROR. There are many forms of imperialism today. It may be economic, political or even cultural. I suggest you go and learn political science before you say that I "insult your own intelligence or lack thereof". Still no evidence? You insult your own intelligence or lack thereof. The US does not have colonies, or an absolute emperor/empress. Those are the classic prerequisites for an empire or an imperialist state. Unless you are referring to the use of diplomacy and trade to spread a country's influence. In that case, every country in the world is guilty of this, to some degree. Russia has manipulated gas exports to imperialist ends.

right, but chechnya, and the caucasus in general was not always part of russia, at least not until the caucasian war (1817-1864) when imperial russia invaded the region, murdering hundreds of thousands, and deporting almost 2 million, caucasians, including abkhaz search "muhajir"- and now here they are, waving russian flags and building russian bases,...not exactly the independence i would have imagined

Russia did so all over the Soviet Union - it was government policy to break nationalist sentiments. Ofcoarse they cant fix problems within Georgia, but you must remember NATO impelled Saakasvili to launch his pathetic war last august by making him feel that he will be supported no matter what. Russia will prevent him from attacking again and NATO could help with that by keeping Saakasvili on a leash, but unfortunatly NATO continues to support him.

These Abkhazians are blind to the fact that Russia will never leave and allow them to truly be independent. Even countries that have independence, like Ukraine and Georgia, constantly have their independence challenged by Russian maneuvers, either overtly or covertly. Russian colonialism needs to be stopped!
