The Audi A1 super mini had its online media debut last week. Since then Audi has followed up with a new video that gives us first glimpse of the A1 on the road ...
@laxkid54 The Porsche was the creator of Volkswagen.. That's why the
Porsche put half of the ownership percentages in VW.. Porsche owns 50% in
Volkswagen.. And Porsche isn't it's own company.. The Audi company OWNS the
Porsche Cayenne (SUV).. What people need to know that companies runs on
shares.. If one company want to know more about another company.. then they
buy shares which is measured by percentages.. That why Audi bought 3% of
Suzuki because they wanted to study compact cars for the A1
@babymegatron you know what you say is bullshit. BMW still builds the best
engines. The performance, fuel cons. and CO2 emissions are always better on
BMW than any other car in its class. BMW's technology is probably most
advanced in the whole car industry with audi being a close second. As for
being unnecessarily complex...again BS. All car manufacturers make complex
engines these days that are "hard" to fix (require special tools and
skills), that doesn't make them less reliable however.
Yeah like Audi itself is going to say, here's a polo with an other bonnet.
And for 2000 euros extra please. Besides, Polo-ibiza-A1-Fabia its al the
same chassis, just other spring settings. Lets put it in the hands of a non
audi driver and then lets discus this. PS i like the styling though, and
i'm employed in the factory in Belgium, where we are goiing to produce the
A1 so i have seen one up close. The interior is absolutly amazing, i have
not yet driven one, but in time...
@tonirockyhorror I am sorry but see the facts : it seems that there are
absolutly NO DESIGNERS on Audi. Once again, everybody can note that audi is
unable to built an original new car (just like porsche) they always built
the same uggly and miserable car at different scales. But it is works,
everywhere in the world, poor minded asswholes are happy to drive those
cars. Excuse my english but i am french (i love England but i do not
understand the slang).
If it comes to Brazil, as we know all the taxes that our government
practice, it will cost at least R$ 80.000, i mean that it will cost almost
US$ 51.000. This value is thinking positive. Can you believe/imagine that?
That's one of so many reasons why Brazil is poor and undeveloped compared
to the rest of the world. Our politicians doesn't worth what they eat. It's
a pitty!
The problem my friend is that even the most outrageous cut edge automotive
designer these days struggles to see the lines that he put on the skteches
make it to the final product... the health and safety pedestrian nonsense
idiots put their nose in everything... but still Audi can do better then
this... what it lacks it's a tiny bit of flare... maybe an italian CEO...
i love how they made it full audi. they didnt try to copy another hatch or
even the gti. they made a complete audi. some car companies have trouble
coming up with original ideas these days. even BMW has been doing some
weird facelifts with their cars. they are beginning to look like pigs...lol
Im glad audi has not started to do anything like that.
@jocky102 compete with BMW 1 series? That's a different class of vehicle.
The Audi A3/VW Golf are the ones competing with BMW 1 series/Mercedes
A-Class/Alfa Romeo Giulietta/etc. . They will definitely make an "S1"
version of this car by putting a VW Polo GTI in an Audi suit (180hp 1.4l
TSI, FWD), but I doubt they will invest money into 4WD.
@antoniocuero29 Well. it depends on the spec I guess. I would say that the
base spec Mini and A1 will have similar performance figures. I know that
the mini uses a peugeot engine and I guess the Audi will use the VW engine
from the polo, ibiza etc So both proven units. The S1 will be the car to
wait for though :D
@MrMaxbear ok man. If you gonna say that. I might as well say you drive an
overpriced Toyota. And I'm not some kind of try-hard racer who needs
rear-wheel drive. That seems to be your greatest point. I look for quality
and luxury. Not drifting. And the A1 has a lot more of that than a Polo.
im hoping to be able to buy an audi a1 as one of my first cars when i get
my ideal job. i love audis but dont plan on being able to afford one unless
my career takes me there later. but if this is priced as a small compact
car...but still an audi. i might be able to afford one earlier!
@Rapist4u and what exactly does America make that is small and compact like
this and still built with quality???? it might not have 4wd just now but
they will bring it out to compete with the bmw 1 series... again what does
America have of the same build class and quality?????
@MrLowAltitude It just doesn't. On their website they quote 1200kg. 60kg
MORE than a MINI Cooper. (Both are measured according to EU regulations
including 68 kg for a driver, 7kg for luggage and a 90% full tank.) The A1
is just a posh VW Polo.
You're spot on... the A5 has great fluid lines... and rims you get even on
a diesel are so sexy... but for instance the R8... I think is more of the
same... fast reliable even very confortable... but yet it's not
exciting...cheers!
LISTEN YOU IDIOTS STOP MESSAGING ME!!.. I DARE YOU TO PROVE ME WRONG..
VOLKSWAGEN OWNS BENTLEY, LAMBORGHINI, AUDI, BUGATTI, AND PORSCHE OWN 50% OF
VOLKSWAGEN AND THE AUDI COMPANY OWNS THE PORSCHE CAYENNE (SUV).. PROVE ME
WRONG!
i would get the 1.6 TDI seein as i could ad at least 50 more hp with a
super chip and roughly 22bhp from sports air filter and sports exhausts
combined! it would destroy the fastest model in the range! love this wee
car!
Yeah i agree and i know what you mean. Now it's safety features and
environement/fuel economy that design a car today, it's no more up to
designers...The exeption of that rule is the A5, very italian on its
design...
Audi A1 is a nice car, I drive one every day. For a FWD car it is very
precise and understeers far less than any other FWD i've driven. I would go
as far as to say that Audi A1 handles as well as a RWD car on tarmac.
Audi and Volkswagen, Lamborghini, Porsche, Bentley, & Bugatti.. Are the
Same companies.. That's why the cars looks kind of similar.. They take
little Ideas from each other and improve them.. Smart thinking
i just love it when americans drool over european cars ... it reminds me
that they SUCK at making cars.anyway If they do sell it in the US i hope
they sell each for double the price in europe >:) !
@daniel11ychiva Both Evo magazine and Autocar agree that it's not as fun to
drive as a MINI. The Audi A1 is just a VW Polo underneath and the VW Polo
wasn't exactly designed to be fun to drive.
@kartoffelkillergm bentley is owned by vw/porsche-who owns
bugatti, audi, lambo, in fact the bentley use the vw phateon engine. get your
facts straight before you try to correct someone.
@Willvoorhees well you cant go tho germany for that car , youl have to go
tho belguim its the only place in the world where its gonna ba made , a
very good thing for my country :)
@RequiemVortex 55.4 MPG AND Turbo charged? Thats impressive. I belive the
1.4 is better then the other two, But I think I´ll wait for the S1 with
170-190 BHP ( I´m not sure).
I will seriously go over to Germany and pay thousands of dollars to ship it
back to America. My dad has an '09 A8 and I want the A1 for myself. BRING
EM TO THE STATES AUDI
@jex9 theres is a sport option... if you look at the online pages there are
as follows, 1.2 1.4 1.6 FSI 1.6FSI S-Tronic 1.6 TDI avilable with trims:
Standard SPORT S-Line
wonderful!I was waiting to buy this but I couldn't wait and now I have the
new Vw golf mkVI. I think the vw group tops the market in design and
mechanical reliability.
and in America..... we think of Camaro's 6.2 liter to deliver great
performance in that heavy car, which it does really. Just a thought of such
a small car having 500 hp and awd... ouch.
Would've been looking to buy a new mazda 2 or 3 until I saw tesla cars, now
waiting for model 3. I don't think 3 cylinder engines are the future
though; I think electric cars are the future.
Nop gonna wait and see model 3. Hope they will build a supercharger near my suburb in the future. Gonna keep driving my 2010 mazda 2 until it disintegrates.
+videonaj True but know one buys one that's why they have depreciated more then half its value in 2 years and 170km range is absolutely terrible, there is still a long way to go for batteries to be the best they can. My cousin bought a white one from Japan and now he wants to sell it.
actually you'd be surprised to know that lithium batteries are 100% recyclable. It just expensive to do so and is not currently commercially viable. I'd much prefer going solar to charge EV's than use all that petrol. Although I wouldn't get solar panels just yet until they reach at least 40% efficiency commercially. It would be cheaper in the long term and if everyone used EV's on the road I can drive a car comfortably on the highway and let the windows down XD. I'm only 25 so I've got heaps of years to wait for technology to advance; and its evolving FAST!
+053334 But do you have any idea how toxic and bad the materials used for making around 7000 batteries are, its better for the earth if you used a couple thousand of liters of petrol in your life than making and desposing 7000 lithium batteries which only last ten years, which is why f all this, you only live once so lets all buy v8's and lamborghini's that run on e85 ethanol.
Hydrogen cars are very inefficient in energy cost because you have to use electricity to produce the hydrogen in the first place. I think advanced batteries will be developed such as the lithium titanate which charge 10x faster, lighter and have a much longer life span.
+Tom Ferreira yeah I agreed completely, I would consider getting the if it had way more power, it would be a perfect small cars if it was turbo charged
The six engines of the redesigned Audi A1 and A1 Sportback – four TFSI and two TDI engines – have an output of between 66 kW (90 hp) and 141 kW (192 hp).
