One thing to understand is that the cost involved, the fact you have no sponsors, etc.. does not determine the podcasts market value (i guess you could call it that). If you have a car that is worth 5grand on the market, you cant expect to sell it for 10grand. Even if you paid that for it, or still owe more than 5grand on a car loan for that car. It is still only worth 5grand. As great as this podcast is, 5$ a month is like trying to sell that car for 10grand. You have to look at what you are offering in exchange for that membership fee and compare it to what other (more established, like Coast, or Whitley's Dreamland.etc..) shows are offering for what they charge. Then you will have an idea what is fair to ask for. Asking for more money then say, Dreamland, makes no sense. Also, you really are not offering the same thing free and just charging for 'more'. We are basically just getting a little teaser, not a complete interview like in the past. With so much time spent on the news, we barely get any interview in the first hour. If we were getting most of an hour of interview, that would be better. Have you not been able to find a single sponsor? Do you not get anything from darkmatter radio? If most of the cost involved are bandwidth, couldn't you host the mp3s at archive.org or something? There are many ways you could distribute the show without having to pay for bandwidth.
