Hi You need to dial it in on the bearing faces not the surface you want to machine, that surface is already useless surely?

+HRPoskitt Hello! I'm actually aware of that. As you can see from the dial indicator readings, the drum was not out of round at all. That's why I used it for indicating. If it wasn't round and I had to use another way of making it turn true, things would have been much more difficult...

Aluminum foil in some cases will be better than rags to help protect the ways. I don't do much cast iron but when working with rusted or materials with heavy mill scale I just set the shop vac up to capture the dust.

Thanks for the tip! I know if I used a rag it would have caught the jaws and thrown the dust everywhere again :-).

That is exiting news on the new house, no more time waisted on driving to and from your current workshop. makes it easier to do a small job also. I have my workshop behind my house, about 110 m2, and the commute is 10 seconds. lol btw you should check out a band called five finger death punch, i bet you will like them, since you also like the old (good) metallica.

I mostly do cnc machinework, product design and prototyping.No vids as of yet, mayby in the future, don't know yet.how high is the ceiling in your new shop? it would be nice to have your own column mounted swivel gantry style crane, i plan on building one for myselve.Al these machine tools and materials are so heavy!!.

Yes, excatly! What bugs me the most by far at the moment is the distance to my shop.. I only get to be there 1-3 night per week. Soon it's gonna be in my basement which is awesome.Congrats on your shop too!! Waiting forward to seeing vids from you! What kind of work do you do?They sometimes play FFDP in the radio but I cannot recall any of their songs. Will listen to them!
