Happy new year everyone. On my ride out to Hayling Island, I try out one of my Christmas presents, a Power Bank for USB devices. Bike: Kawasaki GPZ 500 S ...
Thats an awesome idea strapping up the extra power bank... forgive me if I
missed you talking about it but did you have the power bank actually
attached to your helmet as well?
+shadetree surgeon I didn't mention that I had it in my jacket pocket. The USB cable I has was just long enough, but I might attach it to the helmet with a bit of velcro or something,
I can relate mate - it's good to trick yourself into feeling happy like
that!
Well that's interesting, so you reckon a couple of extra hours with the
external power bank... I lashed out on a Drift external Battery and it
gives me 20 hours, and I can tell you that the camera does keep going,
reverting to the internal battery when the big one runs out. 20 hours is
great and meant I could film continuously on our tour. Each night I would
plug the external battery in to re-charge whilst also plugging the camera,
remote, Sena and my phone into the battery via a passive usb hub - by
morning time - job done!
Nice one mate - ride safe :)
+CaptainCranky Impressive! When I got home it was still running off the power bank with 1 light left. I unplugged the cable to see what the Drift did, it continued to run off it's own battery.
Happy new year Phil.
Thanks for welcoming me as a noob to your channel. ;o)
Another Vlogger did send my this way, but I can't for the life of me
remember who, sorry. :o/
Well phil I don't know whether you managed to work it out or not as you
didn't say, but my Drift HD1080 turns straight over to the internal battery
after the external has died with a fully charged drift battery and a fully
charged external I get about 4 & 1/2 hours recording, that along with my
spare battery gives me another hour, good vid bud, RSM8.
+Skeggy Cruiser It was still powering the camera when I got home, so I just pulled the cable out and it switched to the Drift battery, so it's all good :)
I found the ghost S battery to last about 2 hours, but by then the memory
card was almost full (16gb) I think it was, I have also got a battery bank
3200ma - yet to be used, did you put yours in the jacket pocket or stuck it
to the helmet somehow,
Now have 3 x 32 gb mem cards & 3 Ghost batteries, just need the weather to
change now.
Only 2 hours? I get 2.5-3 hours on the standard Drift Ghost (wi-fi off, sounds off, lights off).I've considered a battery bank, one of them solar jobbies methinks.I didn't think of charging while recording, I wonder how that works out for efficiency when compared to charging while the Drift is switched off...
