Great Review. It is a nice car, my only issue is those ugly rims. Would I
be able to purchase the V6 rims from an acura dealership as parts and
replace them? That would be awesome.
You could, don't get themFrom your dealer though, will cost you a fortune. Just buy private or contact a local wrecker. I don't really like the new style of rims they've been using lately either
the car has been out for some time already, and I cant remember the last time I saw a TLX on the road. I see MDX, TSX, and older TL's on a daily basis.I've owned many Acuras (TLs and Type-s) and this was my reaction when I test drove this one.
Acura really needs to stop re-badging Hondas. That shit may have worked 10
years ago when the competition was either crap or overpriced, but not
anymore. What they really need to do is develop a proper midsize RWD
platform.
+S.T T.Well maybe, there ad line was a little misleading with that "it's that kind of thrill" thing lol but I do think in their minds the price point is what's supposed to make it compete. This is Acura though, aside for the NSX and some of the more rev happy cars like the integra gsr/typeR and the RSX-S it never really was a exciting brand.
+HybridEnergy Finland, where i live does not currently offer Honda Accord or Acura with that system. Its comes only with the 3.5 Legend, which i test drove last year and was very, very impressive car. Just still feels like FWD and i really hate these hangs over the rear and front axles.Honda makes amazing engines and manual gears, also are one of the most reliable cars on the planet..,but 2015 is here and they have to,they need to come up with something better than that to keep the interest and motivate the buyers.
+HybridEnergy The problem with Acura is not the V8 but a proper RWD chassis. Everything above 4cyl should be either 4WD or RWD. You can't have a proper V6 family sport sedan on a FWD platform,it just doesn't feel right.
+Kevin Mansouri Those are not in this class. The V8 from lexus is in the ISF sport versions. Those are the price of an M4 and AMG. Over 60k. Acura simply doesn't have a car in that class at all for that money.
+Kevin MansouriIf they are willing to pay for it they can buy it. If power is a trait then buy something else that has it. Acura is the cheapest option in it's luxury segment it competes in, that's it's trait. Also far more reliable than the large v8 and v6TT cars. Acura and Lexus are the two most reliable brands and what would you know...both are either a 4cyl or 6cyl option N/A in this segment.
+splewy 100% agree with Splewy, I have a 2004 Acura TL 6 speed V6. My 13 year old car has very close to the same HP and torque ratings as this hybrid donkey. My car has been phenomenal but I don't want to buy it again. I was a huge Acura fan but it is slowly and surely dying. They need a V8, or a turbo V6 with some RWD options, anything to reinvigorate interest. All other major brands have these options.... People want performance and are willing to pay for it.
+Michael Leibowitz Why dont you get yourself a job boy,and stop commenting on every video that pops on youtube. Get some income, your mum will be proud of you.
Good example is Hyundai. The Genises doesnt share one thing with the Sonata not even the engines and they are both Hyundais. The 2015 Sonta comes with wood in the interior and more features then the 30k fwd TLK. Acura is almost on the level with Chrysler how it is not that different from Dodge but with better quality. They will both make 2 seater Sports cars that will make no profit.
+dhan219 I have to add, that the biggest fault of Honda engineers is that for so many years they couldnt develop a real RWD chassis to improve the handling and to have chance to compete with some premium rivals. Honda makes one of the best and most reliable engines.Period. But you cant, just cant release flagship like Legend with V6 and FWD and expect appreciation. Then the Accord..,in worst case they should have 70/30 4WD platform that drives the rear wheels but helps slightly the front in extreme conditions. FWD has limits..,according to SAAB engineers they are about 230 hp at the front axles..,everything above that doesnt make sense. You cant release luxury mid size sedans with limited performance. I m angry,as i love Honda, but i am really put off from these facts.
+Mont Blanc I agree. Both engines are the same from the accord. The 3.5 intake makes 20hp more the accord V6.The Accord and the TLX both share the same wheelbases and the same car length and both have dual screens.
+splewy Both of you are right. Acura was meant to be the analogue of Lexus and Infiniti in first place..,a more luxurious and performance oriented branch of Honda.Being a big fan of both, and knowing a bit of their history,i can say it simply like that,Acura is closer to Honda when comes to drivetrains, materials, engines and build quality, than Toyota to Lexus and Nissan to Infiniti. 2.4 l engine comes straight from the Accord, and the 3.5 is the Legend one..interior is almost one to one identical.
I'd by the accord hybrid if the seats were comfy but my 93 Honda civic had more comfortable seats than the Accord - the seats and the antiquated GPS are the only real issues for me with the Accord.
+Michael Leibowitz Yeah I'm not trying to say that they did an 80s/90s GM style rebadging where they just swapped out the grille. Obviously they did a lot to differentiate it from the Accord. The point I'm trying to make is that Acura intends for this car to compete in the sport luxury segment, yet it's the only car in that segment that doesn't have a bespoke platform.
Stick with imports, its an interesting design, actually very well thought
out. I however have owned 3 fords and 1 chevy all with inferior fuel
consumption, build quality, and i would still have them if they ran, i say
Honda, Toyota, Hyundai/Kia, Mitsubishi and BMW for quality vehicles. That
being said, i know change is possible. I hope to see the days American
manufacturers can bring the quality up to par with the rest of the market.
i don't get it, so you stickin with hyundai that had a high shitty
reputation because you had a bad experience with other manufacterers?? you
do know that hyundai (just as EVERY other manufacter) have been issuing
massive recalls, i have a friend with a sonata which has been recalled and
she been waiting for over 4 months because they can't meet the demand of
the part that needs to be changed
The next couple of years will be big for compacts cars. Starting with the
2011 Hyundai Elantra,2011 Chevrolet Cruze, 2012 Ford Focus and 2012 Honda
Civic. Along with the Kia Forte, These cars are going after the Corolla's
throat. I would hope the 2012 Focus will also bring back the coupe version.
That is the difference between the Kia Forte and the Honda Civic.
If it wasn't Toyota's fault then how come they had that massive recall? If
it were just one car, I am sure that wouldn't of happen. Toyota is the one
who decided to use that part so in reality it is Toyota's fault. I drive
nothing but Fords now I will definitely drive nothing but Fords. Focus is
next on my list for sure.
It is nice looking however I have been burnt by the American car companies
too many times in the past by their inferior products and they will not
regain my business. We are a Toyota and Hyundai family and intent to remain
so no matter how good looking the big 3's cars become in the future.
True the Focus is not that old but my first car was a Mercury Lynx before
the Japanese remake in the 90's The Escort in Europe could be had with a
150 hp Cosworth engine but we didn't get it in the States. My Lynxs had 54
hp so u can see i really am happy this car is coming to America
This car is not as nice as it first looks! I bought one 4 weeks ago and
have had nothing but problems. A/c Blower motor went out, one of the doors
sticks, cosmetic problems inside and out. I made a video of the problems on
my channel - please check it out
no new news on a 3-doors, though ford has allways done that with their new
models ..and a year or 2 later the 3-doors still is being developed..i sure
hope they do that for a st/rs version...if not they'll loose
european-customers for sure!
@clubwedd I get the point your making, but if Ford Germany is developing
the car it is still a Ford. The difference in a German designed Ford is
they used their brains and got people who know what to do to build the car/
I have been waiting for the US to get the euro model so I can trade in my
turbo 2001 hatch and get one of them. I hope they bring the RS to the US. I
would be the first on the waiting list!
@Swidhelm Ya it is a gr8 car....I love it too...but I said that I expected
more from the Focus in the terms of looks and exterior design...but am sure
it will be a great all rounder ;)
@roochiecooch This is an import. Designed in Europe and tested in Europe.
Most import vehicles you buy in the US are assembled in the US anyways.
BMW's --> South Carolina, for example.
i turned 15 in november, and in PA we can get our permits when we turn 16
and then after a holding period of 6 months and like 60 hours of driving
time, we can get our license/
the saloon is sleek and good looking, but the euro hatchback is not sleek?
This is maybe good looking in the USA, but in europe it's very ugly and
noone likes it
@2741718 Yeah true enough. I do like the way the euro one looks for the
most part. I really don't like the current american model. I think it's too
blahzay.
Ford cars are shit Ford even knows this thats why their getting Germans to
build there cars for them.
