Cadillac sees the new CTS sedan as the model likely to drive double digit sales growth in 2013. Cadillac Design Executive Director Mark Adams also tells ...
My thoughts on the recurring problem known as GM's Cadillac Division. Buck
tooth or button nose... You do get what they are doing though John? Most
brands center mount the badge...but not Cadillac... Cadillac is now "the
best"...so they mount the badge over "the rest"... If you ask me it is one
of many gimmicks the brand is playing with, instead of putting out better
product... Cadillac always forgets they need THE GREATEST PRODUCT, not bad
marketing and lame duck design gimmicks to win customers. The ATS, CTS, and
XTS should be variations on a theme in design, not different sizes of the
same lame Cadillac styling... Cadillac is even missing a vehicle in the
lineup because Buick has the Encore. The XTS is way too chunky and they
should jump the gun on it and get a new one out. The ATS needs fresh cues
with a new grill and better rims. The CTS can stay the same for now because
it hasn't been out that long. Get a new SRX already! Get a new badge on the
Escalade already! Down the road I would fix the dealership cluster that
brings Cadillac as a brand down in value! Why would I want to buy an 80,000
dollar or more Cadillac at my Chevy dealer? At a Buick Dealer? At a
multi-dealer outfit of mainstream cars? I want to walk/drive into a
Cadillac only luxury dealer or at least a decent Cadillac dealership that
is not run down or lost amongst other brands.... These are all of my ideas
to fix Cadillac and I would absolutely not put out a grand flagship until I
got these things fixed. My plan would be to fix them as best and fast as
possible and then launch the hopefully coming flagship... Thoughts anyone?
Love the show John and despite my post, Cadillac has largely been one of my
favorites in the automotive world. Without some hard work, and products
that excite, Cadillac will see it self flounder once again. As a last
resort they would always try cutting the top off the ATS coupe and then
giving one to me. Thanks again John and Autoline crew! ;)
1) The new CTS badge placement is a bit high and should have been more to
the center as the previous badge was.
2) I was of the impression that if Chin maintinaed teh stranglehold on
Ra-earth metal production, even though China is not teh only place on Earth
you can easily set up production of those materials, that Australia and the
US, via California, would have a window to fill in the need. But now? That
doesn't look like that will happen.
3) The C-Class being turned into an "S-Class Mini-me", sort of feels like
it would cheapen the S-class, but more immediately the E-Class, deadening
sales for that car. "It's the same car just a bit larger". This rings of a
"death spiral", making their luxury vehicles "less expensive' (cheaper) in
ways that will only dilute their brand image. What should be a special car
no longer is and so their is no drive to aspire to it thus costing new
buyers over time. "it's just another car with lots of stuff. I can do that
for way less with another brand.... and I won't feel like just one of the
crowd."
Yeah John, I agree. I don't like the placement of the Cadillac logo
either. But it fits into the Cadillac brand image: tacky and gawdy, yet
lacking sophistication.
cadillac prices are ridiculously high and the resale is terrible. so what
do you expect?
