I went on vaca in Mesa AZ & was walking around the neighborhood w my mom. I went by a house that had these jumping cacti plants on the edge of their property near the sidewalk. Well I guess I was too close & literally a couple of these barbed things jumped on me & I couldn't get them off me. Everything I did failed & they just stuck to me like hell. it was not fun. I was kind of freaking out.. I've never seen something like it. Me & my mom were like "what the heck"! We told our relatives in Mesa & they thought we were nuts but on the plane going back home we met a lady who told us that they were 'a jumping cactus' We weren't crazy after all. It really is a plant. I have to say that I think it's quite clever to use them as a security system on the edge of your property. If you have those & someone gets to close to your property well you can be sure that they will not be thinking of anything except how the hell do you get those things off of you!

+John Langlois yup... they don't really jump but it seems like it.... it only takes the slightest touch and they stick like glue. not fun
