I appreciate the attention being paid to this issue. As an IUPUI adjunct, I can personally attest to low wages, an unstable schedule, and never knowing if I'll even have a job or be able to pay rent the next semester. Even if I've been assigned a ertain number of classes for the upcoming semester, inevitably the day before classes start, I get a phone call from the dept. informing me that they are taking away a class or two to be given to a full time faculty member.

(cont) - I didn't know teaching at a university would be like this - this is what I went to school for! Yet with the lack of full time positions available and the incredibly low wages for adjuncts, I can barely pay rent - and I've given up hope on making payments for all my student loans. I've tried applying for work at stores, restaurants, etc, but I never even get an interview because I'm too overqualified.

Good work - bravo. It strikes just the right note for educating non-academics and those in academia unaware (or ignoring) P/T condition - not preaching to the choir. This would be very useful for campus equity week too. I agree about showing teaching but wouldn't that require signed releases from all the students in the class? Vanessa @ NFM

Gutsy! My hat is off to all who participated. My only tip would be to show the teachers teaching and to get more full-timers and administrators talking. A "bar graph" of this growing trend to use p-t faculty might help novices to this subject.

Work at two or three schools? I wish. I work at 4 or 5 every semester -teaching 8 - 9 courses on average, plus summers and winter session courses. No time off.

Yes, release forms. Tricky but not impossible. Adjuncts' chief work is in the classroom. That can be shown on film. Think: Great teacher movies.
