Hello sir i have a 1998 dicovery and changed out the idle control valve. I still have high idle and no check engine light. Had a local garage look at. They didnt find anything other than computer said the air temp was -3800 DEGREES and the truck was doing 56mph sitting still. Thinking the computer is going dumb i picked up a used one that worked in land rover it came from. Installed it even higher idle so put original computer back in. Need help and thoughts please my email is [email protected]

HI Kyle: Land Rover's have there own scan tool called a work book, you need this tool to set the base idle speed. I did a Google search for Land Rover Specialists and found a good shop in my area. You can call Paul at 619-298-9020,his business is British Auto Parts And Repair. He has helped me with these issues. He may know someone in your area.

So I swapped out my idle air control sensor with another one from another truck that wasn't in high idle, situation same. Took apart throttle position sensor and found white screw had broke "ear". Swapped with another one from other truck, situation same, still in high idle. Any ideas....

I talked to Paul at British Auto Repair in San Diego, 619-298-9020 is his number. I ended up sending the one I was working on to him, he used the factory scanner and was able to set the idle properly. Paul said there is a setting that only the factory tool can do to solve this issue. I found Paul by looking at Google and his website, he helped out alot for this one and gives a lot of good information about Land Rovers.
