That is a loose belt. I recently had mine re-tensioned and that noise went away. The belt is essentially contacting the black timing cover.

mine made the same exact noise..then the timing belt broke, havent fixed it cause its my dads now so dk if that was the cause

I had the same issue with my boxster s I thought it was some type of bearing but it was the water pump going bad. I replaced water pump and the noise was gone. But there are so many other possibilities that could go wrong. Just take it to the mechanic before it gets worst.

This sounds like the exact same problem i had, it's a small round heatshield on the right or left exhaust pipe that needs securing, changing or cutting off..10min job..mine went this week, took it to a garage in Headcorn and job done..

I was petrified this was the IMS actually - when the clutch goes I'll be getting the ceramic bearing from LN engineering installed. :) Good advice.

no dont worry to much you will no if it goes makes a tapping noise when you apply throttle not much to replace either another tip if you get a new clutch any time soon replace the ims bearing that makes that kinda sound to if that goes and u drive with it will ruin your engine

Hah, I haven't sorted it yet but I know what it is - just a rattle coming off the exhaust heatshield. Pretty normal, but I need some time to get under the car and sort it. A christmas project I think.... By God I want a heated garage...
